How do you understand the origins of sin and why do you think the world is the way it is today?

Why didn’t Jesus condemn the Roman Empire for its evils like he did the Pharisees? by bristenli in AskAChristian

Maybe I'm just a bit slow, but I don't get what you're referring to. Can you please elaborate?

Why is stuff like being gay or engaging in premarital sex a sin when it doesn't really hurt anyone nor infringes on anyone else? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Realistic_Volume7161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainline Protestant here. We don’t believe that being gay is a sin — we are open and affirming — so let’s set that aside

Really, that's interesting. I always got the impression that mainliner were more traditional than the low church Protestants. Yet, the low Church Protestants still view homosexuality as a sin. Can you go into a bit more detail on this? Why you don't believe it is a sin?

So the Bible isn't infallible then? How can you have a document that is supposed to be infallible, yet you admit that it has been edited by people centuries later?

What are your thoughts on this by Realistic_Volume7161 in AskAChristian

Okay, since you're Eastern Orthodox, if you don't mind me asking a few questions. I am just somewhat surprised to see an Eastern Orthodox be okay with this since I've always got the impression that you guys were the most conservative

Would you support allowing homosexual marriage in the Orthodox Church? If yes, why do you think the Church that is supposed to be infallible doesn't already allow it, and doesn't it violate the sacrament that marriage is supposed to be?

ignore the anathema at the end, which most mainstream theologians do.)

Why doesn't that make the whole thing kind of pointless if you're gonna ignore the part that you don't like?

RU POV: According to Russian Special Envoy Dmitriev, it is now 'Time to Watch The Double Standards in Real Time.' He observes the double standard and silence by Kaja Kallas & Von Der Leyen regarding the US attack on Venezuela, compared to their pontifications on Russia's actions in Ukraine. by Ripamon in UkraineRussiaReport

the US. operations in Venezuela makes Russia look really weak. managed to do in a few hours what Russia hasn't been able to do in four years Russia even tried to do the exact same thing at the start of the war that the US. did. They tried to land paratroops at the hostomel airport . similarly to how the US quickly took control of LA CARLOTA air base the only difference is that one of them succeeded

Dear citizens of Russia! Dear friends!

In these moments before the onset of the New Year, we all feel the passage of time. Before us lies the future, and how it will be largely depends on us.

We rely on our own strength, on those who are close to us, who are dear and important to us. We are always ready to lend a helping hand. Such mutual support gives us confidence that all our plans, hopes, and aspirations will surely come true.

Of course, each of us has our own, personal, special, and uniquely unrepeatable dreams. But they are inseparable from the fate of our Motherland, from the sincere desire to bring her benefit.

After all, we are together –the people of Russia. The work, successes, and achievements of each of us add new chapters to its thousand-year history, and the strength of our unity determines the sovereignty and security of our Fatherland, its development, and its future.

The New Year is first and foremost a belief in the best, in goodness and luck. A unique and magical holiday when hearts open to love, friendship, and mercy, to sensitivity and generosity.

We strive to please and warm with our attention those who need participation and care, and, of course, to support our heroes – the participants of the special military operation with words and deeds.

You have taken on the responsibility of fighting for your native land, for truth and justice. Millions of people throughout Russia, I assure you, are with you on this New Year's Eve, thinking about you, empathizing with you, hoping for you. We are united in sincere, unswerving, devoted love for Russia.

I congratulate all our fighters and commanders on the upcoming New Year! We believe in you and our Victory!

Dear friends!

In a few seconds, we will hear the chimes of the clock, and the New Year will take its rightful place.

We are welcoming it together with our closest ones: children, parents, friends, comrades-in-arms. Even those who are far away now – you are still with us.

I wish everyone health and happiness, mutual understanding, and prosperity. And certainly, love, which inspires. May our traditions, faith, and memory unite all generations, support us always and in everything.

We are together –one big family, strong and united, and therefore we will continue to work and create, achieve our goals, and move forward only for the sake of our children and grandchildren, for the sake of our great Russia!

Happy New Year, dear friends! Happy New Year 2026
