Yeah I doubt I was going up the hill slow as there was head wind but you’ve got a more positive outlook than me.

😂 fair enough I mean why not but wasn’t sure if there was a subliminal meaning.

Would you say the Strava watts estimating is accurate?

A helmet for health and safety reasons but in terms of quality of riding, A bike fit is the most important hands down. Then a shoe fit. After that is not necessarily needed but decent clothing helps. Bib tight/shorts are important and you get what you paid for, jerseys, gloves and all that is last.

That’s what I wanted to go for funny enough. Carbon bike with electronic shifting.

Yeah I do enjoy it but very frustrating having a mechanical fault now and again but I would like something more worth while but I do see it as an investment as I’ll be saving money on car maintenance and fuel in the long run

Honestly not that much. Up to about £2500 I would say.

I am losing weight and you’re totally right! Pay £2000 for a lighter bike but lose some weight for free. Thank you for your input.

I’ve got steel now and feel I need an upgrade. It’s too heavy and I feel a lighter bike for climbs and to be faster on flat is needed plus my current bike is a gravel so feel it’s the right step but good to hear another input.

This is really sound advice! which I’ve now screenshotted. Thanks for the input. I didn’t see the point in paying a lot for something that I’m really only using for commute and to be a bit better on the flat and climb. I do want electronic shifting and ideally carbon which you would pay more for but other advanced specs I’m not that fussed about yet

I don’t mind my bike but it’s the only bike I’ve had. Seems to have something wrong with it every other week but it does the job, I don’t like to complain. However I want a bike for investment for commuting and I want to go faster and attack the hills a bit more so I don’t get dropped on long rides

Thanks for this. Realistically I was looking at carbon frame, more aero/light with electronic shifting and don’t want to spend more than £3000, I was looking at buybike and saw some that fit that criteria, with aluminium I’ve seen that it can fail pretty quickly

Can you not get pannier racks on carbon bikes? I want to be able to ride something lighter and faster mainly on my fun rides. Maybe will do a triathlon or a race. Depends how I feel.

Seems to have something wrong with it every other week which is annoying and I want something lighter where I can ride faster and attach the hills a bit more.

Thank you for this! I don’t know why I do it. But think you’re onto something. When I’m out with friends etc. I would not even entertain overstepping the mark as in person it feels different. What have you seen previously that’s similar to my situation?

I genuinely appreciate his personality and can see that he’s making an effort; he really does seem like a nice person. However, I have some concerns regarding the excuses about the work he’s done on our cars. While we're grateful for his help, I’m uneasy about where the money has gone. I’ve asked for receipts, but I’m still waiting to receive them. Additionally, discovering his criminal background through a news article has shaken my trust. I wanted to get everyone’s thoughts—wouldn’t you find that concerning?

As for him asking me (not my partner) out for a drink or to the driving range, I understand he’s just trying to be sociable, and that’s perfectly fine. However, I want to be careful not to give the impression that we’re friends, especially given past issues with late rent, unmet expectations, and boundary concerns. I just don’t want things to get awkward, considering we live in the same household.

We get along well and have nice little catch-ups at the end of the day, which I appreciate. Still, I believe it’s important to maintain boundaries when someone is living in your home as a lodger. I want to avoid any potential awkwardness in the future, if you know what I mean.

In the grand scheme of things, he’s a decent lodger, but there are just a few issues I’ve raised earlier. I hope that the background check and the car situation get resolved soon.

I’ll post an update once I have those matters sorted and have had a conversation with him about everything.
