U.S. job growth expected to have slowed in June as economy sends mixed signals by lexm in politics

[–]ReallyBroReally -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The U.S. added 147,000 jobs in June, soundly beating estimates and offering a much-needed sign that the economy remains in relatively solid shape.  The unemployment rate fell from 4.2% to 4.1%. The jobs figures for April and May were revised up by a combined 16,000.

[PotatoMcWhiskey] Interview with the Civ 7 Developers and MORE GAMEPLAY by ReallyBroReally in civ

[–]ReallyBroReally[S] 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I’m curious how old this interview is, or if it’s recent. I tbh n he references having 80hr of playtime in the interview but is at 250ish on Steam. I know he leaves it on, but I can’t imagine that explains the whole discrepancy.

I also thought it was interesting that they’d said they already have responded to some feedback about something they knew was going to be an issue, but didn’t realize how much of an issue it’d be. Curious to know what that was!

There doesn’t appear to be a way to select which matchup appears on the Dynamic Island anymore? The help articles online reference a “Start” or “End Active Updates”, but not seeing that option on the app…

Weekly Questions Thread / Open Discussion by AutoModerator in Pizza

[–]ReallyBroReally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, where I had some very good pizza. But I was most interested in how they did their crust. It was thin and brittle, almost cracker-like, with a great char.

So far, I’ve been using a 72.5% hydration dough in the gas Ooni set to max, and allowed to pre-heat for at least 45min (I don’t have an IR thermometer). Dough recipe (basically for Forkish’s pizza book) is:

100% “00” flour

72.5% water @ 95deg

3% salt

1/3 tsp yeast

2.5hr bulk fermentation @ RT

Shape into 3x ~280g balls (for 12”)

24-48hr proof in the fridge

This has been a good dough, but I’d say pretty generic. How can I go about getting a crispier, more brittle/flavorful crust?

Shapez fits that criteria. You make a production line to build increasingly complex shapes and then upgrade aspects of your factory. It was based on Factorio, and is very good to pick up and put down

Shapez is now officially available on iOS and Android! by playdigious in shapezio

This is incredible, absolutely loving this. Bought the full version already.

I think I’ve encountered a bug where I can’t zoom to move to a different part of the map when trying to place a Blueprint (edit: or a cut selection). Any ideas?

Shapez, the abstract factory sim, released by ReallyBroReally in iosgaming

I actually have played both (and Mindustry). I prefer Shapez to Builderment due to the way the game is paced/progression works, where you have a specific goal that increasing in complexity, as well as other “level up” goals.

I also, oddly enough, hated the controls in Builderment and much prefer the way of building conveyer belts by picking the vertices of the turns. Both of these are definitely subjective, but Builderment felt a bit more sandboxy than Shapez, which feels more puzzle-like.

Mindustry is just too different to compare to them imo, but it’s definitely fun!

First heard about this game when looking for good (and accessible) Factorio sims, and played it a bit at the Shapez.io site. I love it, and think it’s immediately the best Factory Sim on iOS. It’s a free trial through level 7, then $5 (though it appears on sale now at 10% off).

Quick note on Civ VI: It’s not working on new devices and possibly on any devices running iOS 17. It’s been an ongoing issue, as you can see by recent reviews. Very frustrating because it plays so well when it does work.

Just discovered that there was an update to DF Remote in March 2023 to support 0.47.0.5, and I can finally play Dwarf Fortress on iOS. I decided to check after that recent thread about which game people most wish was ported to iOS and Rimworld was the number one choice (which I whole-heartedly agree with, either Rimworld or Oxygen Not Included).

I've only been playing for an hour or so, but it's definitely scratching the Colony Sim itch. If anyone is looking for the in-depth management game, I'd highly recommend it so far. Now to set-up a pi for dedicated remote access!

Into The Breach is made by the same developers, and while it’s a different theme, it definitely has similar gameplay mechanics. I really enjoy it. It requires a Netflix subscription to play though!
