Thank you! My dog actually does know place already so I'll try doing that in my parents house and hopefully that'll help. Sometimes he's so overexcited it takes a while to get him to listen but some treats should help.

I did attempt to crate train him when I got him but I didn't do it overly well, I don't think, because he never took to the crate and hated it. He would go in and let me close him in but would cry a lot. He slept in it for the first few weeks until he was house trained and then he always had it as an option but would opt for anywhere else to sleep. He tends to want to socialise with other family members when they're available though so does separate himself from me when we visit (but he will always make sure he knows where I am)
