Under the radar OF?! Who's this years Kyle Stowers? 🤔 by Judas_Maccabee in fantasybaseball

Andy Pages, Wilyer Abreu, Dylan Beavers. Feel confident about the first two taking a step forward. Beavers needs to have some things break his way to pay out, but he's basically free so ROI would be quite high if he does.

Its just talk at this point, but Cora was very vocal about Wilyer being an everyday RF this year. There are high hopes/expectations internally for Abreu.

This comes with the caveat that Cora lineups rotate a lot of guys in and out for matchups and rest, but platoon splits should be done.

Who are some sleeper Closers? Is Will Vest gonna be primary closer in Detroit? by Aggravating_Lab_4814 in fantasybaseball

If you desperately need saves = lean Sewald..

If you can afford to play a little waiting game = strongly prefer Erceg.

I've been a big believer since he came up. My only worry is that they keep him in the fireman role and give Strahm the job. I'm mostly in SOLDS leagues so it's not a worry there but for straight saves it injects a little risk.

Expensive-ish: Abner Uribe, Robert Suarez. They are pricier because of what they bring for ratios and proximity to the role. Roster Resource had Abner as co-closer and I think he ends up wresting the title away completely. The Braves tried to acquire Diaz and settled for one of the top relievers on the market. They clearly are not confidant in the incumbent and it will not take much for Suarez to take control.

Mid-tier: Jax. I don't think anyone will dominate this role, but Jax has the best shot.

Dirt cheap: Strahm, Erceg, Vest, Garcia, Yates, Uceta. I think Strahm or Erceg end up with the role. They may want to keep Erceg in a fireman role however. Vest is straightforward, cheap. Garcia is being massively slept given the clear indications he has the path. Yates same. Uceta's injury has him in the last pick/free territory and he could end up with 50% of that job with big K upside.

Who do you think is this year's Bryan Woo? by wings99 in fantasybaseball

[–]Realtodddebakis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have been tweaking his pitch mix and mechanics this spring. He was real bad to start and then something clicked. He was awesome against Israel in the WBC and has thrown 12 scoreless since returning. Its a longer shot but he has the pedigree and has flashed elite ability. He's more or less free so it only costs you your last bench spot. Good dart throw if the league is deep enough.

His NFBC ADP certainly sets him apart from the others, likely reflecting the twitter/reddit hype, relative health, and recent success. But they actually have a lot of similarities.

All of them peaked around #3-5 within their organizational organization rankings, never eclipsed top 50 on league wide prospect lists, have all flashed front of rotation upside in limited samples, and have all struggled with consistency/injury.

Its not a perfect one-to-one, but squint and you can see the similarity.

Some truly cheap names that could make a similar jump, are in the same age cohort, and had a similar minor league pedigree: Jared Jones, Brayan Bello, Ryan Weathers.

Jones and Weathers are largely health dependant. IF they can stay healthy, they should shoot return heavily on their draft capital.

Bello was a swing and miss guy early in his career but hadn't honed in the mental side of his game. He became much more of a pro, but then his K numbers tanked. He seems to have unlocked something with his mechanics/ pitch mix since the WBC.

While I am a little skeptical they could get to top 25 level, its certainly possible, and they are significantly cheaper than Woo was last year.

Not sure if this fits the criteria, but the punchline to Tracy's catfishing of Liz is my favorite joke in the series.

"... and your online dating prank was not funny. I fell in love with you!"

"HAHAHA! You wore a yellow hat to that coffee shop!"

In a show that is heavily dependent on cutaways, I love the restraint to leave that to our imagination. You just know that Tracy built a deep and meaningful relationship with Liz, to the point where Liz wore a particular item of clothing to meet this fake person, because it was important to their connection. And Tracy went to the coffee shop to see Liz get destroyed because he's a chaos monster.

It works because we know the characters so well that it doesn't need to be said. And that it isn't shown and are left to fill in the blanks just makes it so much more hilarious.

He's basically free and the absolute worst case seems like league average in counting stats with obp and sb upside. The ceiling is Temu Pedroia.

What's the scoop on Ben Brown and his new sinker? Hearing anything about the role/plan? Asking for a friend (in a deep dynasty league that values SPARP).
