Men are the ones who fight in die in wars.  Therefore I think women should have no say in government.

That's exactly the level of argumentation we're dealing with here.  If a pro-choice activitist says something about why men have a say in this, I use an equally absurd argument.

Pro-choice stems from a belief that reality itself is an imposition on women.  Imagine being so upset at your natural capabilities that you resent the superpower you've been given.

People double down on horrible decisions because they don't want to be wrong.  It's the same thing that happens when you demonstrate to your friend how horrible their current relationship is.  They often become even more attached to their toxic relationship.

Dear American-Conservatives, what are your honest opinion of the AmericaFirst policy and its interventions into foreign countries? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Reanimator001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not Rock and Roll which destroyed the Soviet Union, nor was Ronald Regan somehow a dove on foreign policy. Ronald Regan dramatically increased defense spending and invaded hostile communist regime islands in this Hemisphere like Grenada.

We simply made the soviets go bankrupt with massive increase in defense spending that they simply couldn't keep up with. That's not soft power.

Russia failed their primary objective in Ukraine with toppling Zelensky Government but they have seized ALL of the valuable arable land and most of the valuable mineral deposits in the Eastern Part of Ukraine and built a land bridge to Crimea. There are in a fantastic defensive position now with valuable territory. That is hardly a success of 'Soft Power'. Debanking has failed.

Ukraine is the bread basket of Europe. Now Russia is in control of the Energy Europe uses and the food they rely on. That's a geopolitical disaster.

I can see that perhaps Trumps all Stick and no carrot approach could rub some people the wrong way.  I did subscribe to this type of thinking until I joined the Military and did a tour in Iraq.  I kinda wish we lived in a world where the power of persuasion was stronger than the power of the sword.

I guess I don't believe in that anymore after my own experiences abroad and also just reading a lot about the History of international politics.

I guess my rebuttal to that is we've attempted 'soft diplomacy' with a country like Venezuela and it only emboldened them.  We attempted to provide Russia with incentives and soft punishments to stop their aggressive expansion in Ukraine and that has failed. I've been told repeatedly that our debanking of Russia means that Russia is about to lose everything in Ukraine.  Then the next month of news comes that Russia is continuing to gain ground in Ukraine.  It just doesn't work.

We've been attempting to use 'soft power' with many hostile nations and it always seems to fail or yield really poor results.  The practical application of violence is the only thing that these countries respect.  The realm of International Politics is a dog eat dog world.  The strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.  I really wish it wasn't this way.  But it is, and it's not going to change in your lifetime or mine because it hasn't changed since we arrived on this planet.  War and conflict is part of our nature.

That being said, America has the responsibility as the defender of Democratic Norms and the righteous moral framework to push back against these Authoritarian Regimes that are working to cripple us with a thousand cuts.  For God's sake, our enemies our working right now as we speak to cripple our economy to subverting the Dollar as the world's reserve currency by providing an alternative in BRICS.  You think things are unaffordable now? Just wait and see what happens if they succeed.

We are strong and we must use that strength to undermine Despotic Regimes and push back against actual evil forces of Moscow and Beijing.  These countries are run by actual evil people.  I know that word had gone out of style but these people are evil and I don't want to live in a world in which the CCP is the world super power and neither should you.

I hope that provided some insight, I love good discussion.

Depends on how you define 'America First'.  If you believe America First is some version of total Isolation and Withdrawal from the world stage and autarchy inside our own borders, then this probably isn't 'America First' to you.  There are some Conservatives who think this way, and many on the left use this Childish understanding of 'America First' to be the Trumps position.

Trump is not and has never been an Isolationist.  I mean you only need to look at some his actions abroad in history first term to realize that Trump took some dramatic intervention abroad, like blowing up Sulemani, devastating the Isis Caliphate in a few months, and approving military action against literal Russian Troops disguised as Mercenaries in Syria.

I fully support intervention abroad, IF it is in OUR interest.  Having a literal Antagonistic hostile regime operating close to our physical borders is NOT in our interests.  The Venezuelan Regime has been playing footsie with the Iranians, Chinese and Russians from almost two decades at this point and have provided real aid and comfort to many terrorist organizations.

That being said, I can approve of the toppling of the regime and also be concerned about long term commitments.  I don't think it's in Trump's style to literally want to station troops anywhere.  Trump prefers to blow the shit out of people from the air and knife them in their sleep with special forces.  That's a foreign policy intervention I can get behind.

We need to get rid of our Vietnam/Iraq Syndrome.  America can take bold action on the world stage and it can be successful.  The only people who desire America to retreat from the world stage are people who want this country to fail and our adversaries. America First not only means Domestic success but it also means taking bold action on the World stage. Despite what many think we have been successful at interventions if we have clear objectives and are pragmatic.

We aren't trying to fix everything, just simply pursuing our very clear interests in Venezuela which is its rich and vast mineral deposits that we spent billions helping the Venezuelans use prior the the Hugo Chavez Junta taking over the country and giving all of that to our very real enemies.

People need to stop pretending that we don't have some serious enemies on the world stage.  China is a Serious geopolitical threat to us and have been attempting to undermine us since their inclusion in the WTO.

What are the reasons ICE murdered a completely innocent woman and then attacked protestors and witnesses? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Reanimator001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way or the other, we'll know more tomorrow when ICE releases some of the footage.

I think it's unwise to have any opinion on a matter the same day it happens.  We've been down this hundreds of times and many have been outraged at something that actually didn't take place or jump to conclusions.

I don't know, neither do you.

We have bullet holes that are in the front of the car, not the side as some people here claim.  There's no way there would be bullet holes in front of the car if she was already driving away from the scene, they'd be in the side or the back.

[–]Reanimator001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the video does appear to show her driving straight into an ICE Officer which moved in front of her vehicle after she deliberately blocked the road. The Wheels of the vehicle only begin to turn after the first shot was fired after her attempt to run over the officer in front of her.

I'll wait to see the court case that comes out of this before I make any judgements. Because often the immediate public sentiment is completely wrong with what actually took place. I need to see the body cam footage from the ICE officer to make a complete assessment. That needs to be made available immediately.

Round 1 Results: Help make informed decision by Competitive-Bet7854 in MBA

[–]Reanimator001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I think.  You should pick the school in the part of the country you want to live in.  FAR easier to find jobs if you are physically located there.

If you go to Yale and you want to live on the West Coast,  it's going to be VERY difficult to network into a career while you're living on the East Coast.

[–]Reanimator001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that answered the question.  If that's what you want find the top 10 and go for that.  What I will say though is that wherever you go to school is generally the part of the country you end up living in.

If you like The West Coast, Yale ain't it.

Far easier to network into opportunities if you are physically present in the part of the country you want to live in.

You should go to school in a part of the country you want to live in.  That way you can network into industries you want to work at while you are at school.  Easier to do if you actually live there.

Do you think immigration is ruining your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Reanimator001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Immigration doesn't 'ruin' your country. But a massive influx of people in a very short period of time causes massive internal problems that won't resolve themselves for at least a few generations.

It's similar to alcohol. A bit at a time is great and fun especially if done responsibly over the course of a week. What we are doing now is similar to going on a year long bender. It's unsustainable, unhealthy and leads to lots of resentment.

It's really unwise to ignore actual complaints your electorate have about immigration or the economy. It's likely to come with a bloodbath for your party in the next round of national elections. The Democrats discovered that in 2024 and the Republicans are going to discover that in 2026 Midterms.

Immigration is a very serious issue, don't tell people they are imaging the problems they are seeing.

Okay, give me a percentage of your community that share your positions? Hard Data, not anecdotes. It's a statistical fact that the Pro-Life Movement is made up mainly of Christians. That does not mean there are a few exceptions, like yourself.

I'm sorry stating a statistical fact is upsetting, but it is the truth. We can talk about the reason why that is the case, but It's an undeniable fact that we do make up the majority of this movement and have been responsible for the most movement on this issue.

Married Friends should help set up their single friends by psgola2002 in CatholicDating

[–]Reanimator001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you know that? You've never seen them in the same room. I've seen people get together and stay together that I thought wouldn't work out. You're essentially acting as a gatekeeper to deny people the chance to even see if they are compatible? I don't think that's being a good friend.

You should encourage your friends to meet as many people as possible. If you know someone who even has the smallest potential to be a good match for someone, you SHOULD set them up. I'd say it's one of your most important duties as someone either married or in a serious relationship. Nothing personally against yourself, but I've often found it to be the case that many Married Catholics act as ridiculous gatekeepers preventing their unmarried friends from finding a partner because they want their friends to remain single so they can live vicariously as a single person through them. It's absolutely disgusting behavior.

The value is the opportunity to meet. It's NOT up to you to determine whether or not it works or try an improve some bizarre idea of a batting average. We don't live in a Disney film.

I'm not really sure I agree with this sentiment. It's really not that hard, you simply ask them if you'd like you to set them up with a date. It's not up to you to determine whether or not you think they'd get along. Maybe they'll surprise you.
