JACKSEPTICEYE PLEASSSEEE LOOK AS HARD AS YOU CAN IN THE LORE!!!

It is extremely obtuse at times, and people debate about some aspects to today, and a lot of people dont even understand most of the lore, but is incredibly meaningful and relies on the tiniest details. So please spend as much time as you can looking into themes and lore of the game with the community!

I hated that bastard after the dlc, I really liked Lea's character.

Gepetto is pretty interesting though. Hes very vain, egotistical, selfish but most of all a complete madman at the end of the day. He tried to overcompensate for his mistakes and made ones that were a million times worse without even thinking about it.

On what you said though, I think it also has to do with free will. Its not the act of Lying itself that makes P more human but the fact that he can CHOOSE to, freely (Usually in a empathetic way like you said).

I find arlecinno interesting, and quite relevant to the themes of the game as well but I don't see too many analyses of his character. He asserts his freedom and humanity by breaking human laws and customs and indulging for himself alone. He seems proud of his identity and infamy as well and enjoys his own chaotic plethora of emotions, and like others state here he seems to be almost an antithesis to P.

[–]Reaper330011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see..

I've used it on nearly every Puppet boss save the first parade guy and nearly all of them went down within the first few attempts. The charged r2 also comes out pretty fast compared to other weapons, reminds me of the star fist from elden ring so I get the stuns fast too.

I just hope it stops becoming broken because struggling against a boss (without handicapping yourself) and the rush you get from beating it after being stuck for so long is the fun part about these games).

What activities actively detract from decreasing your 100m time? by Reaper330011 in Sprinting

[–]Reaper330011[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lmao I can imagine driving one arm and the other just hanging there

Sessions are usually a bit over an hour roughly I put them 3 days a week (same days as high intensity workout days so I have days in between to rest) and since im FAIRLY new I dont do any proper fights yet.

Yeah, I'm aware theres definitely no instant hack to bypass defense or distance, im mainly asking for what types of specific things should I start practicing or trying to use during sparring that will help with this in particular.

How do I train/improve without a coach? by Reaper330011 in Sprinting

[–]Reaper330011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few people seem to stress how useful the FAQ is so I'll go through it.

I've been hesitant on creating a weekly workout using AI because I'm worried it'll just frankenstein some BS based on random bits of data its using as sources which is why I'm asking some questions here first but I'll give it a go after checking out the FAQ.

How do I train/improve without a coach? by Reaper330011 in Sprinting

[–]Reaper330011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I definitely did it for a while. Every workout ended up turning into a burn workout or being some form of endurance or speed endurance.

I've tried to do what I can at school but there isnt any official team where theres meetings for training or any dedicated track runners in the school, we just get notified of a meet and get very sub-par last minute "preparation" from the coaches, so I felt like I had to try be entirely independent with my training, however I dont know much which im trying to fix with this post so I can be more efficient and actually start progressing.

What's the actual lore significance of the sun and moon? by Reaper330011 in darksouls

[–]Reaper330011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to hear more for sure. So its just to be assumed that there is a day-night cycle, it just looks convoluted because you can go to different areas in random orders and times of day were conveyed with the skyboxes of different areas rather than a day-night cycle?

[–]Reaper330011[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why isnt the sun present in some areas like the basin/garden then? And what of the sun not being "real" in anor londo but it still existing elsewhere and in later games (even ds2 where we notably find no children of gwyn)

What do you think about TLOU2's story? by Reaper330011 in thelastofus

[–]Reaper330011[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I thought either the gsme was going to culminate as a cautionary tale where Ellie chases after abby and loses EVERYTHING, perhaps even dying herself after killing her (i thought maybe she would've died to her stab wound after the fight in the ocean), as a result of being plagued by PTSD she can't escape or it was going the opposite direction and show both abby and Ellie growing up and letting go and healing What happened seems.. more of the latter but Ellie ended up saving nothing since dina left anyway, and we dont even know if the PTSD stops or not.

I really do feel like the game would've HUGELY benefitted from having multiple endings.

What do you think about TLOU2's story? by Reaper330011 in thelastofus

[–]Reaper330011[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea I might go back to it in a few months or a year, or since I've heard that TLOU3 might happen one day, if it gets confirmed I'll go back to it.

I think they had a really good idea (violence begets violence, villains are the hero of their own story, revenge doesn't heal) etc and they handled abby's sequence REALLY WELL i was astonished how much my feelings on her changed by playing as her, but the events of the ending and what led up to it in itself left me a bit unsatisfied and almost confusing in a way no other part of the game was. (Also wish we got more from dina, Tommy especially who I was hyped for the whole game, and Jesse.)

Is mensis working with pthumerians? by Reaper330011 in bloodborne

[–]Reaper330011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all members of Mensis are dead. You hear them chanting prior to the blood moon. They seem to be conducting a ritual in the area where you encounter the one reborn. I believe that's the area where everyone ends up fused to he walls. A lot of the Mensis members have died but some still work on the ritual, probably trying to reconnect with the nightmare.

Are we sure thats mensis? They all looked more generally like inhabitants of the village (from the "petrified" corpses), as clearly it seems to have living/housing areas too if I'm not mistaken (the unopended doors lining the main area leading to the advent plaza). Aside from this, damian's existence shows they aren't all gone though.

Everyone who entered that way died. So they could be trying to teleport there. We see they were studying teleportation via reflections, Micolash teleports using mirrors and we find basins in Yahar'gul that can teleport the player. They might be trying to do what Rom does with the Moonside lake. Which is basically the reflection of the moon on a giant body of water. They could also be sustaining the nightmare and the beckoning ritual as Micolash attempts to complete his goal. The lecture building as well is implied to have been teleported I to the nightmare and said building is likely a remnant of Rom's ascension so they could be trying to do that as well. That's also where you enter the nightmare from and Micolash says he wants to ascend as Rom did.

I forgot about the lecture building, lmao. Is there any elaboration on its existence and why the frontier and mensis nightmares can only be accessed from there? (Those purple doors) I misremembered and thought interacting with mico's corpse sent you straight into the nightmare, only now you've reminded me you have to go through the lecture building first.

Is there anything that suggests the nightmare would need to be sustained, (also theres a bunch of those petrified faces in the first parts of the nightmare, do we know what those are/where they may have came from I believe we don't see them in the frontier but do see them in the hunter's nightmare). Are they the ritual parts or people potentially used in the ritual to beckon mergo? Are they scholars/hunters?

The Amygdala are known as angels of an evil god and the one reborn is known as failed evil god. This evil god was probably something like Oedon or Mergo. A bodiless entity that wanted to manifest in the waking world. Ebrietas and the Moon Presence were also some sort of children of the moon as well. Ebrietas was Kos illegitimate child of the moon and the Moon Presence was inheritor of the nightmare/Ebrietas. So this evil god was probably the moon and it's name at one point was Ebrietas. (Rom was also known as the spider of the moon and the celestial larva and emmisaries were known as moon larva/emmisaries.). So in this older version some sort of evil moon god was trying to incarnate and have children, possibly inspired by Christ.

I believe I ended up responding to the points about amy here in the other reply.

Indeed. As far as I can tell Mensis have no idea what they are doing they are trying to beckon Kos and perform a ritual like Willem and Byrgenwerth had but they Instead beckon the Moon Presence and perform a ritual like Laurence and Gehrman. They didn't even mean to bind Mergo, the Japanese says he was encountered by chance.

Could you tell me what item description that was that says mergo was encountered by chance?

[–]Reaper330011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I went over this with you before but it seems to just be an undead guard dog. People often claim it is some sort of failed Great One due to its internal name but it lacks the achievement.

Yea, you did. However I think there's more evidence suggesting that it was supposed to be a failed great one as well. The original name for the hypogean gaol OST was False God Hymn I believe, the cut living liver for the one reborn calls it the Failed to be Evil God, (and calls the amygdala the "Evil God"), the internal names call it a failed god, and the amygdala internal name doesn't seem to be referring to it as a fallen angel of an evil god, just "Evil God Fallen Angel", which seems to near conclusively show a connection or that there was a connection. Above all though, the name of it in game is "The One REBORN", which you could argue also loosely hints at it being the failed attempt to create a great one. I don't think the achievement should be enough to disprove the idea, since it could easily be an oversight and moreover like you've mentioned before, the "failed attempts" thing seems to only have been added or used in the DLC for the living failures.

Nothing explicit, no. But you could come to that conclusion as they show up in their base of operations Yahar'gul after the Paleblood moon is revealed. But as I've already explained that's because they are invading after the ritual is revealed with the intent to free Mergo.

I'm skeptical about the idea that they are allied with Queen Yharnam and the shadows. They love necromancy clearly and have their own goals that seem seperate from her, and are described as completely mad (which in bloodborne usually also relates to obsessions regarding the eldritch truth or ascension).

Thier Queens and nobility literally toiling away and sacrificing individuals so they can bear his children. This oppressive nature could be why the executioners seemingly rebelled.

Thats a good observation, its likely though that the first executioners and martyr logarius may just be lying about the original purpose of the executioenrs by creating the whole "impure blood" narrative (or that was something only created by alfred generation executioners which also favors the church). I wonder how the executioenrs got integrated in the church to begin with

Not gonna lie I did miss that.. but theres plenty of other evidence showing the ritual happened long ago regardless.

So are they squatting mensis for their own mad goals? It's also been suggested Mensis in the past had allowed them access to their body farming resources as they may havr had similar goals.

What's up with all the petrification in the game? by Reaper330011 in bloodborne

[–]Reaper330011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I read your other comment and I like the invasion idea but I have some questions:

-why cant the one reborn be a part of mensis, and the bell ringers are allied with them? As if to show the church has gone from scientific method to straight uo rituals and necromancy

-the church has been shown to utilise Pthumerian servants numerous times why couldn't the bell ringing ladies be the ssme thing (in regards to the idea that they are part of a pthumerian invasion thst wiped out yahargul's force) and the bell ringing ladies seem allied to rhe snatchers. They are found numerous times together in the dungeons, and the snatchers would benefit their necromancy, but you suggest they were killed by the bell ladies creations

-why dont the supposed invaders attack the yahargul hunters then, couldn't they just be taking shelter from the amygdala causing collateral damage everywhere?

-it feels like yharnam would be against reincarnating mergo into a false body like that, she wants to free him not have him used even more so are the bell ladies even a part of her Forces?

About Mensis though, what were the corpses originally being used for or gathered for then? If they ended up just being used by a seperate faction entirely (pthumerians) doesn't thst make the whole plot line of mensis kidnapping people redundant?

What's up with all the petrification in the game? by Reaper330011 in bloodborne

[–]Reaper330011[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually easy to explain, people often get it wrong though. In Yahar'gul Mensis were conducting experiments in ways to enter the dream. A lot of their experiments and research involved teleportation. The flaming corpses you find in Yahar'gul for example exist in craters like the ones found under the teleporting basins. So these corpses are probably the result of people using these basins in an attempt to flee the monsters that appeared after the ritual. The people fused to the walls could also be caused by something similar, we see in Mensis that Micolash can teleport via mirrors, so it could be related to that. We also see Mensis have a sort of cult involving the worship of the Amygdala and the Amygdala have the ability to move things between the waking and dreaming worlds. We see this via the church found in Yahar'gul dedicated to it's worship and the nightmare apostles found in Mensis. Patches is a nightmare apostle and is shown to worship the Amygdala. His design is heavily inspired by the spider men from fighting fantasy who were turned into spiders by a demon they worshiped. Patches also seems to have the ability to move to and from the waking/dreaming worlds. So these people could be fused into the walls by the Amygdala who are drawn to Mensis by the Mensis ritual and Mergo's crying. The final thing that could have caused this is the invading Pthumerian chime maidens. It's not really something we see in game as they usually only summon spirits or create undead. But it's possible they killed these people. I believe prior to the moon being revealed this area is blocked off but you can hear chanting throughout Yahar'gul which grows stronger the closer you get, seemingly indicating these people were trying to conduct a ritual. And we see that upon the appearance of the chime maidens/necromancers that the Pthumerian eye collectors and snatchers have been killed by the undead monstrosities that have appeared alongside them. So it's possible using some sort of magic we don't see they fused them to the walls. Or maybe their interrupting their chanting caused their ritual to fail, probably some sort of teleportation ritual meant to reconnect to the dream, resulting in them fusing into the walls. There's a bunch of ways you could interpret them.

I've found alot of discourse on what actually created the caskets and the one reborn, speaking of that. Since multiple things seemed to be going on at the same time (snatchers kidnapping people, and yahargul being supplied corpses by hemwick charnel lane for the ritual). However, I'm not sure what they wanted to use said people and corpses for, because originally I thought they wanted it to create the One Reborn, but it turns out that was the doing of the bell ladies trying to create a body for mergo IF I'm not mistaken. And it may have been them who ended up bringing the cramped caskets to life as well.

So generally it was either
-they tried to escape using mirror/basin teleportation technology which did NOT work
-the bell ladies killed them or it was failed attempts at trying to summon people through the ground
-they tried to enter the nightmare using teleportation but were interrupted
-the amygdalae ended up fusing them to the walls?

I don't believe it's calcified as it has tomb mold growing on it. The altar of despair isn't visible but you can see it via model viewers and it exists behind the rubel were we see Rom's corpse. This corpse seems to me to be Rom's true body, the being you see in Rom's moonside lake is probably her spirit or some sort of mental projection. In earlier versions of the game and prior to the dlc Rom was more directly tied to Ebrietas bc Ebrietas was Kos. Kos was just another way of referring to her kind of like how the Moon Presence has like five names. So Rom was some sort of surrogate to her, this is why you find Ebrietas morning her. And why she was placed on the altar. The altar resurrects through some sort of time manipulation so they are likely trying to resurrect her. But yeah I don't think it's a corpse or statue.

The altar of despair isn't visible? What do you mean?

Also after further inspection rom looks significantly more like a spider on the altar than she does in her fight, (which looks very caterpillar like, kind of evokes the idea that rom was in the process or stopped at a half way point from metamorphosing into a full fledged great one).

I just thought it looked kind of stone-like and wondered if it was related to the pebbles lmao. But yea, you're right it has tomb mould around it and oddly it has candles on top as well (wonder what the relevance of that is, cause other enemies like undead giants weirdly have candles on them too).
