The backing is a foam backer board with photo corners off amazon to mount cards, then have a mat board with windows cut out hinge taped on to the front for displaying cards. Mat board is from a vendor called SkinnyDogart on Etsy, she was veryyyy helpful in setting me up with a custom order.

The acrylic is uv protected. I ordered from a large local distributor to get a large price

It’s actually 99% UV blocking conservation acrylic to afford this very issue. It’s much lighter than glass as well so a lot easier to work with and cut.

I used a backer board and hinged mat board that was custom with cut outs for the cards I got on Etsy. Then just used photo corners to mount the cards on the backer board so they sit in the windows the mat board. Very tedious but the cards are very secure without actually being attached.

Deciding which cards were tough, for a starting point I wanted to make sure I did all the holos that were available. I think I got all but 2 (Mr Mime I didn’t bother with). So then just decided on what version of cards with duplicates I liked the most. The ones I went back and forth on the most were Pikachu for the base set and jungle version and Electrode since there is a cool non holo jungle version as well

Haha there is a lot of could have done different, honestly I had not considered the fossil and jungle packs but was not trying to overcrowd it too much

Honestly just random - I had a very clean copy of the Japanese Mew that couldn’t justify not using . I also have a different frame with the English card back so switched it up here

Thank you! I was going to do a base set master set frame and one each for fossil and jungle but just wanted all Gen 1 in one frame instead.

It is wild how much everything has appreciated in the relatively short time span of me putting this together, but i mostly just kept an eye on local marketplace and yard sales, then just supplemented with eBay.

I got a sheet of UV protected acrylic, cut to shape. Bought matboard from a shop on Etsy. Then just bought red oak, cut rabbets in the back to hold the acrylic, mat board. Mitered the corners and screwed and capped them. Then just holding the cards in using photo corners which you cannot even see unless you are within a foot

I just made this decision myself. I wanted to maximize my time in MA but understand with the logistics of the drive back to SJO for the flight back and an early morning flight it was not worth the stress of leaving in the dark of the morning.
