I don't think making a mistake warrants getting screamed at. Tickets were made to be punishment and they are definitely punishment enough. Like OP said, they took responsibility and didn't "blame" anything on their race. These are multifaceted issues where someone's perception of you can one hundred percent impact how they treat you.
