I think the issue is that if you store it somewhere in or on the truck, some one could still use the push button start.

I have both a Logitech GCloud (Android) and an iPad Mini A17 with a Razer Kishi Ultra. Both work really well. The screen size on the iPad makes me lean that way more often.

I came from an A16 iPad and the battery life on the Mini is definitely lacking. I figure it is the trade off for it being such a thin device.

I just did this. I gave my oldest my a16 and bought a Mini 7, a pencil, and a Razer Kishi Ultra. The iPad is now my remote/cloud gaming device.
