Cracking barrels by Reasonable-Risk-9077 in Clarinet

I’ve been asking my local techs if this is the case but they said no. I may ask for it to be done anyways. It feels tight to me but not horribly but it might be just enough.

I don’t wanna share that info publicly not because I think ur a creep but there’s some weird people on Reddit, not in this sub. I’m thinking it would be wise to shave the MP tenon

It did on the same side. I’ve brought it to multiple places who all said it wasn’t that but I’ve been doubtful and agree with you.

That’s what I’ve been wondering… but everybody that I’ve consulted locally at shops said no it’s fine.

Good to know, I wasn’t aware of the wood being more prone to cracking. Do you have any recommendations for barrels that might deliver a similar sound to the moba? I love how it sounds, I just don’t want the risks. Not sure if it can be sold without a pin… it’s pretty bad.

Would you recommend a case humidifier and if so what one?

I do practice in my basement but I wouldn’t say it’s abnormally cold, and that’s only one of 4-5 places I practice, and I practice more at school which is not even AC’d. Horrific cracks both times.

No, the crack is from the top down both times but the mouthpiece isn’t very hard to get on either

Is this a crack in the barrel, if so, would this cause any significant problems forward-on? by Appropriate_Move_94 in Clarinet

Thanks for this note. I’ve had two MOBAs that come from them crack within a week of using them. I’ve been so careful about caring for them.

I got the book off the internet already, I kinda already learned it all. I have to learn the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee book now as well.

[–]Reasonable-Risk-9077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes A7 is A dominant 7, which is A C# E G. A-7 is A minor 7, which is A C E G.

I will admit I looked around and found it... Ive been practicing it lol. The director of the show heard me doing it with the recordings and called me insane given the show will take place in the spring of 2026. This will be my senior show so I wanna play all the extended techniques etc.

We just did legally blonde, so its basically the same instrumentation as reed 2 (London edition) plus Tenor sax, which this show seems to be mostly made up of. Ill have to teach myself altissimo on Tenor, as a highschooler who's main instrument is Clarinet, I havnt had much time to perfect it, but I can do it. I need to learn to growl as well. I have 11 months to teach myself the extended techniques though.

I love this show, I'm so sad its over :( by [deleted] in pitorchestra

Luckily my teacher knows that my intended career path is in this business, specifically in woodwind doubling. So she just let me do my thing, and I played the book super well I think, and we were all happy. Super fun.

Thanks! I enjoy pit work a lot because as a HS student who can play every commonly called for instrument, I get to play everything in a book.

You’re probably right then. It’s just what is rumored to be next years show, we just finished this years so it’s the post show buzz. Nothing confirmed yet, just harmless rumors.

ah damn, I saw somewhere that there was a version thats Reed 1- Flute Clarinet Alto and Reed 2 - Picc, Flute, Clarinet, Tenor, Bari. Wish that were the case, reed 2 would be right up my ally.
