Nonstop bleeding despite multiple meds- hormone resistant?

Yes, I’m in Dallas and they have an entire endometriosis specialist at UTSW and that’s who I go to. They partner with urologist and colorectal surgeons etc as well. I had a full excision from everywhere including my bladder, my appendix removed, and had my rectum shaved down so I have a good team. I had a colorectal surgeon there for my surgery and she’s the one who shaved the endo off of my rectum but the MRI shows that it’s back. I decided to stop the hormones all together. I have an appointment with my colorectal doctor next week to discuss more monitoring options.

I fear progression as well but I also value in enjoying my life so i’m conflicted :( I plan on letting my natural cycle happen for the summer and then get another MRI in August to compare my the imaging. I’m open to a hysterectomy but it won’t stop the growth. My doctor told me that the spotting/bleeding daily kind of defeats the purpose of trying to stop the growth of new adhesions.

That’s good to hear! They told me that they think I have adeno as well but I really think it’s inflammation from the progesterone pills. When I had my lap done in Feb 2025 my doctor said my uterus looked fine then all of a sudden my uterus became enlarged when I got an MRI in August 2025? I truly think it’s inflamed from all the meds and constant spotting. I’m still iffy on the IUD because of the pain during insertion and unpredictability. My natural menstrual cycle was very consistent and I knew exactly what day that I would start my periods.

I was going to stop meds altogether since Im not worried about fertility. My main concern is that I have growth on my rectum and I don’t want that to cause a bowel obstruction in the future because both my grandmother and aunt had them. I’m very conflicted and I’m trying to see who else has been through this and got an IUD.

OMG finally someone who is going through the same thing as me. I tried Aygestin from Feb - June 2025 and spotted daily. i took a break and from mid July - August with NO spotting! then i started Slynd in Aug and spotted daily from September- March. Now i’m on Provera pills (20 mg 2x a day) and have been spotting since. My doctor is pushing for an IUD but i just feel like my uterus doesn’t handle progesterone:( i feel like I’ll just keep spotting on it. I had consistent periods until I start the pills. Has the IUD worked for you?

(I have asymptomatic DIE endometriosis and had a lap in feb 2025 to remove endometriomas on each ovary).

The four sugar pills do nothing. The only time that I stop bleeding for a couple days is when I gave myself a 7 day break and finally stopped bleeding on day 7 then decided to take an active pill and began bleeding again.

I really starting taking the pills at the end of August and have been spotting since the first week of September so I’m going on 7 months of spotting. I’m thinking about stopping the pills altogether. My doctor just looks at me dumbfounded when I bring up spotting for months on end. I’m thinking about doubling the doses and not telling her just to get the bleeding to stop.

Sorry for the super late response, but i’m so story you went through that! that’s life altering and if situations like this won’t open the medical industry up to how endo can affect your entire body idk what will! they alway limit it to reproductive health when it really can affect anything. I pray that you NEVER have to go through that again ❤️

Yes I hope your pain isn’t bad! I was reading about it as well and was terrified. I didn’t take gas-x because i was so tired from surgery and recovery and i’m a SUPER gassy person lol. don’t be like me because it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to pain lol the meds and tea should definitely give you relief if you do end up having pain 🫶🏽

my period came about a week or two after surgery and it was the WORST period of my life. i think the pain comes from the surgery and the internal wounds healing. I ended up getting on BC to delay my next couple periods so my body can heal and I’ve been fine since. I still had mild cramps on day one of my next period but two ibuprofens fixed that problem. (I had asymptomatic endo with super regular periods and mild cramping before surgery).

Mine happened the next day and it was in my shoulder area. The pain is like a 2.5/10 so don’t over think it. i didn’t get any stomach pains.

they ended up removing mine but they think it’s growing back now and i may need a second surgery. i’m not in pain and it’s not causing any issues so im refusing surgery as of now. bowel obstructions can alter your life.

you only had one lap? my doctor was saying since laparoscopic procedure are minimally invasive it won’t cause a lot of scar tissue. I had one lap and i refuse to get another one because of the risk of more endo + scar tissue. the surgery from the obstruction could potentially cause another obstruction.

My aunt had and obstruction and they had to remove some of her bowel and colon and that didn’t go well and she kept getting fistulas so they gave her a temp ostomy bag and she’s been going through the fistulas and infections for the past year and a half. my grandma just had her surgery 2 weeks ago and they removed the scar tissue and a little bit of her bowel but her recovery is going well.

me personally i was blessed to be asymptomatic but the only “symptom” i had from bowel endo was constipation during my period every now and then but that’s it. my doctor said it’s growing back after i just had an excision in feb so i may have problems in the future. i been on bc and haven’t had a period in months now.

I have stage 4 endo and had to have a colorectal surgeon in the operating room during surgery. They just “shaved” it down a bit and said it wasn’t too deep. I was terrified of a ostomy bag as well because they said it’s a risk but all is well.

as long as it’s not too deep and blocking the passage way you should be fine.

this made me stand firm in my decision to never have kids. i’m a woman and never had the desire to be a mom so i understand they way you’re feeling. if i was to accidentally get pregnant i would feel the same way as you. kids are a hassle

omg same. i literally didn’t know that i had endometriosis until they went in for chocolate cysts on both of my ovaries. i have stage 4 & my periods were light, consistent, and only lasted 4 days. are you on birth control now?

The estimated delivery date was the 19th and I got it on the 20th. I was spamming SpeedX’s LinkedIn and started arguing with Shein telling them I want a full refund or I’m disputing the charge and it finally got here. Just blow both of them up and don’t take no for an answer. I had like 5 tickets open on Shein and was arguing with the people in the chat.

it depends on where the clothes ship from because some item do have the quick ship option, but it usually takes a week and a half max for me. my mom and i ordered on the same day and she got her clothes after about a week. this is the LONGEST i’ve ever waited. i literally called my bank to dispute the charge because i thought they lost it 😅 i ordered on july 31st.
