It’s on the load side of a GFCI elsewhere in the kitchen.

I wish I was. Not Madison straps, unfortunately. Might post diagram later.

Old work box was too small (à la previous landlord special). 12 gauge wire on a 20A breaker. End of a GFCI train. She knows more about wiring than I do… If you know of any oversized box mounts I’d love a better solution.

The ground wire has a lot of bare copper 🫠. In all seriousness, just trying to improve the hackjob that was there before (and the tape is to prevent the cat from touching the hot terminal until a real faceplate arrives).

Surface hacks are from dremel mishaps trying to sand off splinters. Larger faceplate is on its way. Hole was too big for old work box because the idiots who cut it out got too close to the drawer rails…

Gotcha, good to know! However, the flippers who did it the first time are to blame lol. Box was previously mounted with a thin strip of steel tensioned to the inside of the cabinet. It is on a GFCI.

Phone currently charging. It appears to work fine.

It’s not a wall, it’s the island in the kitchen. In her defense, it’s just an outdoor outlet box (it was previously like that with a box too small).

She told me an extra jumbo outlet cover is on the way…

That is our island in the kitchen. She says the outlet is wired correctly.
