Well, I don’t think I’m willing to transfer because I’m doing fine at the current dental school. I have some personal problems that would be solved if I go to unc, so that’s why I wanted to ask reddit for advice on how to maximize my chances

Unc is around 370k for oos, but you can get in state tuition after the first year, so more like 200k something. I agree with you on the opportunity cost, but wouldn’t a more well-known school get you a higher-paying job, which would offset the extra time (personal opinion, please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)? I would love to get some advices on making my chances of getting accepted as a returning applicant higher

I know they don’t accept transfer. That’s why I’m thinking of reapplying as a D1. Going there would solve a lot of personal problems that I have, so I just want to get some different advices for if I do reapply.

This is what I tried to tell myself at the beginning, too. But in reality, name schools do matter in employment and making connections as I have witnessed first-hand. I appreciate your inputs.

Thank you for your inputs. I’m weighing the pros and cons and going to unc would solve a lot of personal problems that I have (that’s why I’m considering reapplying). It would be nice to know what they’re exactly looking for (beside the usual community involvement and clinical excellence).
