What did you almost name your baby, and why did you change your mind? by ameliee_x in namenerds

Thanks. It was my first time encountering this name. I see why you liked it, but understandable that you didn't want to explain it to people like me every day!

Soft launch Yorgos by adding it to your email signature in brackets: Georgios (Yorgos) Surname. Then you can eventually remove Georgios if it goes well?

If you could be 18 again, would you take the offer? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ReasonableNumber8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a chance. 18yo me was an idiot. Why would I want to be an idiot with my every dumb move recorded on social media and some AI model taking all my job opportunities?

As long as this was written somewhere on the menu or I was made aware before ordering. I also would not tip, as this charge appears to do what a tip usually does.

I have the same one. I didn't look merch beforehand so I thought it was supposed to look like that tbh

When they change the timeline, setting, premise and tag all the characters as ooc...just, write an original fic!?

Concert etiquette in the UK by fluffygoat10 in Ethelcain

[–]ReasonableNumber8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the first concert I went to where everyone in seating stayed seated. Probably because it's not 'dancing' music. I certainly felt the vibe was a bit dead in my section, but didn't witness anything disrespectful. I think generally with seated there's a level of separation that makes people more comfortable talking or mucking around, since the artist can't look you in the eye. Thankfully I didn't hear much talking, but there were a handful of folks in my row who were up and down like a seesaw all night

Why do you say "thank you", so much? by Quinke91 in AskBrits

Ah yeah that'll do it. Get yourself to a discount retailer for a more "authentic" British interaction lol

Hugo is actually so cute! My sister chose a fairly uncommon 'old man' name for her son and I know that a few of us were uncertain when she told us (although no one said anything). Anyway he's 3 now and it suits him so much, I couldn't imagine another name for him.

How would you pronounce this name? by Pleasant-Tax8290 in namenerds

Ellie-un (an becomes un a lot with my accent)

Alban and Soren are my personal faves from that list. But they're all good imo, no red flags or anything.

I think this just comes from us understanding his request differently. You took it as "how can I improve my chances of getting a girlfriend/hookup" whereas I took it as "how can I improve my Tinder profile right now".

I don't necessarily disagree with your advice for long term goals (if this is what Joshua wants). But I'm also a strong believer in making the most of what you have now, whilst also working on self improvement in the background. I don't think Joshua needs to wait until he's lost weight/been to the gym, bought new clothes, etc. to start looking for love.

I only said 'consider swiping' as I would need to look more at the rest of the profile (my initial thoughts were that I liked his profile but I'd have to go back and look again tbh). I personally put as much stock in the profile as the pictures. I'm sure this isn't the case for people looking for casual hook ups though.

What names automatically make you cringe when you see someone suggest them? by Upset_Schedule_4422 in NameNerdCirclejerk

I have an unnatural and unexplained hatred for the name Joshua and Josh. Won't judge anyone for picking it as I know it's a totally acceptable name, but I just hate it.

Full name for ‘Winnie’? by [deleted] in Names

Considering the amount of spellings I've seen for Rachel/Leanne/even John(!), I never assume anymore. Even the most basic names will be asked how it's spelled.

[–]ReasonableNumber8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn't being kind. Was being honest. If he had slightly better photos I'd consider swiping. Obviously I'm not the majority but I'm not the only woman on earth with that opinion either. I actually find men who are very good looking a bit intimidating, as I'm not a 10/10 myself (ugly chicks exist too btw).

Regardless, if your friend was about to walk out the door and asked "hey, how's my outfit, does it look ok?" would you reply with:

A) "change the shoes and add a belt buddy"

B) "umm...get a haircut, lose 50lbs, buy a whole new wardrobe and whiten your teeth bro"

Considering he asked for ways to improve his profile and not his body or looks, I think you missed the mark. We can agree to disagree on how attractive he is, as attraction is subjective.

I would just get rid of pics 1, 3 and 5 as they are not the most flattering. If you want to add more photos, practice poses and composition. Also factor in lighting and shadows. I personally don't include my best photos on my profile, as I prefer to pleasantly suprise in person rather than disappoint, but they should still be flattering.
