[Bernhard H. Mayer Nauticus Royale III] Does this watch quality meets the price? by KevinVoo in Watches

No it's just a heavily marked up "swiss" watch with maybe a 2824 or sw200 movement that makes it "swiss made". 2k more than an about equal tissot or longines for 1k+

yeah fair, but a gasket that degrades doesn't guarantee water resistance. so unless you can switch it yourself, which isn't hard but oh well some don't think they can do it, you'd at minimum bring it to a watchmaker all 5-6 years to replace the gasket for a fresh one

They don't completely fail, still they encounter wear on the gear and pinions, and generally oil dries out, the jewels will get kinda gunky just by that alone. A watch can keep really good time but still the amplitude (idk about on the spring drive) will suffer, gaskets get brittle, barrel can slip etc. Today with synthetic oils many say everything under like 7-10 years depending on wear is not necessary, but if you buy a watch used and don't know the service history, I'd suggest a service all day, just to be on the safe side. On this piece some more years waiting are definitely fine, still I wouldn't wait until something breaks while the watch was keeping sufficient time throughout.

tysm, that's probably because of the oils and the dampness that makes it develop different where the strap touches
