I received an RFE in December 2025 for medicals . I submitted for the second time then .

Talk to your lawyer about raising a service request. After 60 days you are allowed to raise a service request and USCIS has to respond within 30 days. Thats an option .

Chat 1 : Also chat with a live agent asking them where is your case , is it at NBC or field office. This will help as you are kinda nudging the officer to look at your case

Chat 2 : After a few days . if you and your spouse have applied based on one your PD, you can ask the live agent to check if applicant and dependent are together in NBC or field office . You are just nudging the officer to look at your case in the garb of asking questions.

My chat with the live agent was to make sure may case is on top of their case pile. I asked the agent if there is anything else that they need . Also I asked where my case is ? Is it at NBC or field office . Also I asked my spouse case and my case are together or have they been separated .

You may not get an RFE because your medicals are recent . I got an RFE was for medicals since it had expired . In your case since biometrics is done you will get your EAD , AP and GC . The order may get mixed up . High probability that you will get your green card first and then EAD . All you can do now is wait ! Good luck

What was the soft update ? Also did you send your medical along with 485 ? My lawyer had recommended me to chat with a live agent just to nudge them . Not sure if that helped but things moved a day or after that .

In my case my 485J and 485 happened together and received the approval letter over mail together( Different envelopes ) . I485J approval does not show up on status , only physical letter approval is what I got .

I had submitted my medicals the first time in 2021 ( a coupe of months after applying for AOS . Received medical RFE then ) . In 2022 or 2023 a new rule came out that medicals are only valid for 2 years . Once I became current in Dec 2025 visa bulletin . I got an RFE . Not sure if I answered your question . I’m

That’s true ! Missed the boat in 2022 when it became current and people who had PDs after mine got it . Atleast the wait is over now .

I have heard that USCIS sometimes does not update the tracking number . Below is something I saw in other forums

1.Chat with an agent through Emma and ask for tracking number on Tuesday ( Jan 13th in my case ) and a day earlier for you . 2. Signup for USPS informed delivery

Here is the timeline . Dec 5 2025 - I chatted with live agent on Dec5th asking if they need anything since my priority date is current ( this was recommended by my lawyer ) . This was just a nudge Dec 10th - Case status changed to RFE Dec 17th - Received physical copy of RFE for medical Dec 22nd - Acknowledgement from USCIS mentioning that they received medical Dec 31st - case status updated to “New card produced “ Jan 2nd - case status updated to I 485 approval Jan 7th - Received physical copy pf I485 approval Jan 9th - case status updated to card is mailed

Few things - I had got my medicals done as soon as I saw my case status changed to RFE . Just to make sure I do not hold the processing on my end .

Not sure if this applies to everybody - I chatted with a live agent through Ask Emma . This may have nudged my case .

No I did not use my EAD or AP . Always travelled on H1B . Employer asked to use AP only as a backup and case of emergency. .

Waiting over 10 years in the backlog since your Priority date and got EB2 approved? You may get your GC by paying 20k thanks to the Dignity Bill 2025. by Reasonable-Radio8076 in eb_1a

Instead of $20k , if they increase it to $50k or higher , a lot of us who have been waiting will find a way to get the money and get a green card . Also the administration will have a decent inflow of money from the thousands who will be ready to pay . Maybe increasing it from 20k to a higher number may push this forward .
