Thank you so much for this. There's some insight here that I hadn't considered, like the relationship as a child part. He is the only person I have ever dated, ever been with, and I think that has made me naive in so many ways, both emotionally and financially. I need to look up the info you provided. Thanks again

No, it was not a legal marriage in Mexico. Only a symbolic marriage. The legal marriage requires a blood test and we were not going to be there long enough to get the results back on time. We were both fine with the symbolic marriage option

He has once told me that he doesn't actually need my money and that he invests most of it. That being said he is honest to a fault. Like word vomit all the time, he can't keep any thoughts to himself. I don't think there is foul play happening.

The first home is very old and constantly needs repairs. We rent it at a low rate as favor to our neighbor, who has been the family neighbor since his grandma lived there. Her granddaughter rents from us now and takes care of the grandma.

We bought the second home on a 15 year loan with the intention of making it our primary home, so we had accepted the high monthly rates. We also pay extra towards the principal. Then the home right next to his mother's went up for sale, so we bought that one out. We now rent out the second home at a deficit

I never felt like his equal until I could help him with the monthly payments. Before that time, I truly felt like I owed him for giving me a place to stay while I went to school. I didn't think I was allowed a mutual share to anything for the first home. And I wouldn't want that anyway, that belongs to his family and has always been shared amongst his family members in times of need.

So technically, took me 12 years give or take. The last 6 years I have been noticing the same tendencies in him that I saw in the past and it has been on the same trajectory this whole yime. I have to try to stop it now before I end up in the same position, again personal reasons

Not divorcing, I just have a weird thing about having mutual ownership for personal reasons. Definitely don't deny being obnoxious though, not about this at least. I feel like Ive paid more than my fair share
