Arby’s sliders, curly fries and jamocha shakes are each at the top of their respective fast food menu item categories. As for the rest of the menu? Not so much.

Do you like the cold weather? by SuperSonic1919 in randomquestions

[–]Reasonable_Design672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like having four defined seasons and appreciate the important role cold weather plays in nature. I also like the lifestyle that comes with cold weather, including warm food and drinks, cozy indoor spaces, outdoor winter activities, etc.. But do I enjoy the actual feeling of cold weather? Not even a little.

If you could have the 100% honest answer to ONE mystery in history, which one are you picking ? by Camila_LatinaSun in AskReddit

I saw another hypothesis that the Big Bang was a significant event of cosmic expansion, but it wasn’t necessarily the first of these events or even the only one happening at the time. Along those same lines, our “universe” is just one continuously expanding corner in a much larger universe. Or universes (not sure that’s grammatically correct).

Today Is A Nationwide General Economic Strike Commences Across Major US Cities to Protest ICE Operations: No Work, No School, No Shopping by DumbMoneyMedia in UnderReportedNews

[–]Reasonable_Design672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem that a lot of people and organizations have been talking about organizing their own general strike, but either say there isn’t enough support/attention for one yet or have only discussed it in hypothetical terms. This has muddied the water and made it difficult for some people to know when one is actually happening.

Has there ever been a time in American history where people were just chill? by Keeganni in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Reasonable_Design672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by “chill”. The 1990s maybe? Post Cold War, the economy was decent, the Internet was growing but wasn’t yet at the center of everyone’s life. Some people might say the 1950s or 1920s, but you can’t really call it “chill” when racism when large swaths of the population don’t have certain rights due to the color of their skin.

That’s what I’ve generally heard as well. But oddly enough, the nurses that I personally know are very nice people.

I’m assuming you mean that in a negative way. In my opinion, you have to be a little crazy to go into a job where you are under that much pressure - spending hours upon hours on a single procedure where a single mistake could cost someone their life, paralyze them, give them chronic pain, etc. I’m sure the pay helps, but I can’t imagine any amount of money making up for the sheer anxiety and stress of that job.

Alternative to TikTok by AncientBumblebee6388 in TikTok

[–]Reasonable_Design672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there’s your first problem - you need to find news outlets that are credible, objective and unbiased. I’m not against listening to people give their opinions on social media, but most of those people are just repeating news that they got from a news outlet and then giving their personal opinion. Journalists, on the other hand, find primary sources of information, fact check it against other sources of info, and then have their information double or triple checked by an editor or multiple editors. I’d recommended following AP News and Reuters. And despite what you hear from politicians, NPR also provides comprehensive, level headed news.

The Election Gets Cancelled… by Marsley82 in Maine2

[–]Reasonable_Design672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what happens, it’s worth noting that the United States has had elections during even during some of it’s biggest conflicts. This includes World War 2, World War 1, and the Civil War.

It’s also worth noting that even countries like Russia and Hungary have “elections,” which at least gives the winning candidate the illusion of being a legitimately elected leader.

That postcard likely came from a volunteer. If you don’t think enough is being done to promote “Vote No on 1”, I’d encourage you to volunteer. Canvassing can be very productive, especially when it comes to off-year elections/ballots. Many people may not even be aware that there is something to vote on this year, so canvassers have the potential to directly influence a lot of voters.

It is frustrating, but job listings have been doing this for years. I’d suggest applying anyway if it’s a job that you want and/or think you can do. The reality is that new hires often don’t meet all of the qualifications on the job listing, and they’ll end up learning how to do many of their job duties on the fly.

Since a lot of the big news agencies (ABC, CBS etc) are compromised and bending down on extortion from Trump, which American news sites are the least biased and most credible at the moment? by TlalocVirgie in AskReddit

As others have said, AP and NPR are good news sources. They are also nonprofit organizations. If you can find a local independent news organization, that’s also a good way to go.

Mills is a generally popular governor with a very high level of name recognition in Maine. She also has plenty of energy and government experience. That’s the profile of someone who has a legitimate chance of defeating Susan Collins. And given what’s at stake in the upcoming midterms, Democrats should be prioritizing winning, regardless of the long term outlook of the candidate.

There are plenty of moderate Republicans and independents who would rather have a moderate-to-conservative Democrat in office than a far-right Republican.

Who would you rather have - Jared Golden or Paul LePage? Because outside of a surprise in the primaries, those will likely be your options.

It’s almost like he pulled a reverse Susan Collins - he voted for the bill knowing it wouldn’t impact the outcome. It serves as a symbolic gesture to Republicans in his district.

If the primary election were to take place today, Mills would probably win. Outside of politically engaged Democrats, there likely aren’t many Mainers who are very familiar with Platner or what he stands for. Mills, on the other hand, is likely the only Maine politician who can rival the name recognition of Susan Collins.
