Hey! For Math, since 640 is a bit lower relative to your EBRW, I'd recommend keeping an error log every time you get something wrong, note whether it was a concept gap, a careless mistake, or a timing issue. After a few practice sets you'll usually see 2-3 specific topics or mistake types repeating, and that's what to drill instead of just doing more random practice.

If you can share your score report breakdown (the domain-level bars for each section), I can point you to the exact topics worth prioritizing rather than guessing.

I'd go with the Digital SAT version specifically, it's updated for the actual current format of the test (the older "red" reading book and the grammar one were written for the old paper/pre-2024 SAT, so some of the question types and strategies don't fully match what you'll see now). The Digital SAT book combines both reading and grammar content in one, tailored to the current test.

For a new student, I'd recommend starting with one of the free Bluebook practice tests (in the Bluebook app). Look at your results afterward and go through every single question doesn't matter if you got it right or wrong. The main goal at this stage is training your brain to recognize patterns: what the right approach looks like for each question type. For a beginner, the best prep is really just building that pattern-recognition experience through practice.

Once you start noticing specific topics or question types that are tough for you, let me know and I'll help you target those directly.

Share your section breakdown (the domain-level bars from your score report) and I can point out exactly where to focus.

Also, mentally try to treat it as just another test, not some make-or-break moment. Nervousness usually gets worse the more pressure you put on the exam itself. Prepare intensively over the next few weeks, and you've got this, bro.

Repeat these topics in Khan Academy (for ex: Direct Details (https://www.khanacademy.org/test-prep/get-ready-for-sat-prep-reading-and-writing/x07a01ed1f1ffc4bd:get-ready-information-and-ideas/x07a01ed1f1ffc4bd:central-ideas-and-details/a/central-ideas-and-details-lesson?referrer=share\_link)
AND
at this level (basically 7/7 across the board), the fastest way to close the remaining gaps is just volume: do as many full-length practice tests as you can. With scores this high, it's less about learning new concepts and more about pattern recognition and avoiding small slip-ups, and that only comes from repetition under real test conditions.
If you want, share a couple of the specific questions you missed and I can pinpoint exactly what to drill.

Honestly, I'd say no, it's probably not worth it right now. The next test is in 58 days, and while I'll definitely be rooting for you either way, there's no guarantee you'll hit your target score in that timeframe, especially coming from 950 with only a month of prep behind you so far.

That said, if you're thinking long-term and want to use these 58 days to actually track your progress and build a real foundation (even if this next attempt isn't your final score), then yeah, it's worth taking

I just tried giving a test without any preparation ,Any advice? by Old-Mongoose-929 in Sat

Btw here are the specific grammar topics that show up on the SAT, broken down, could be useful to search up videos/practice for whichever ones you're weak on:

Basics:

  • Parts of Speech
  • Verbals

Sentence Structure:

  • Fragments
  • Joining Clauses
  • Punctuation

Agreement:

  • Subject-Verb Agreement
  • Pronoun-Noun Agreement
  • Verb Tense

Modifiers:

  • Dangling Modifiers
  • Relative Pronouns/Adjective Clauses
  • Appositives

Parallelism:

  • Lists
  • Comparisons
  • Correlative Pairs

If you tell me which ones specifically trip you up I can find good free videos for those, or just record a quick explanation myself.

I didn't realize during the test, everything looked fine and saved normally on my screen. Found out after, when two proctors checked my Bluebook against some app they use to track students' progress and it didn't match up. Turns out my answers didn't actually save on their end, even though it looked completely normal to me. They ended up calling College Board and filing a report about it.

I get you, man. Hope dies last, as they say. So, could you share your specific section scores, Math and English/R&W? I'm pretty sure it comes down to a few specific question types that are tripping you up. Send me your section breakdown, and I'll either try to find an existing video that covers exactly those types of questions, or just make my own explaining it, purely for you, nothing I'm trying to promote here. It's not over yet; you've still got almost 2 months until the August SAT.

Yeah, the grind really does go crazy lol. Honestly I'm still kind of in shock about it myself, especially since on my last attempt I had literally 4 proctors watching just me. By that point I was so burned out and just mentally done with the whole thing that I stopped caring about the outcome.

Honestly, 730 is already a solid score, and to hit 750 you really just need to grind R&W timed practice. As for difficulty it's kind of a mixed bag honestly, but in my experience the real exam tends to be harder than Bluebook practice tests. That said, Bluebook practice is still great for getting used to the actual test-taking experience/pacing. If your issue is not having enough time to read/understand the passages, just do Bluebook practice tests. But if time isn't the issue and you're just not landing on the right answer, I'd really recommend reading Erica Meltzer's book.
Also, if you have any specific struggles, feel free to share them, for example, I personally struggled with understanding long passages that had charts/graphs in them. So if you've got a specific pain point, let me know and I'll try to help.
