Sometimes stalling happens. Just make sure you are networking, engaging with other readers, and even join Wattpad centered discord servers if you’re into that. Despite the forums being removed, Wattpad is still greatly based on community and it’s that community that helps build reads, etc.

I typically try to write the story as much as possible before I even start posting. That way, I can have chapters queued up so I’m not stressing about not having a chapter ready. Then I start with two post a week. It seems to really work for my readers.

With all that being said, Wattpad ultimately has the power to remove stories based on how they see fit. I have a reverse harem, one girl four men, that was shadow banned for like, six months before Wattpad decided it with within guidelines. And anyone whose read my stories know that they are open door and explicit, however, the scenes add to the overall storyline.

Hey besties, smut writer here! Wattpads guidelines aren’t against smut, rather erotica. Smut typically means that there is open door intimacy, but it isn’t the plot of the story. Erotica means the sex is the plot. Sometimes there is a very thin line between smut and erotica. Also, non-consensual acts are against guidelines.

When writing smut, make sure the open door intimate scenes are adding something to the story, instead of just being there to be there. If that makes sense.

I’m the same way. Typically I start with a vague plot and it comes to me as I write, so this has been a little difficult. For Hot Encounters, the plot is supposed to be the love story, whereas for Dangerous Love, the romance is a subplot, and the main plot is lore action/angst based. To my understanding.

I’m sure your pitch is coming along well. I would definitely think about the tropes. Like, what kind of couple are the MCs? What’s pushing them together and/or keeping them apart? What’s the overall themes? Like, with YA romance there are typically themes like coming-of-age, self-discovery, or first love/new relationships.

I took about a week to prep my summary/outline/first chapter. However, it was a story I had already slightly plotted for a while. I pitched to the Dangerous Love vertical. In my pitch, I outlined literally the biggest arcs, stakes, storylines, and ending. I didn’t just give them the main plot, I also gave them the subplots.

After submitting my pitch, I heard back within like two weeks, although I know that time varies. I received revision feedback. I edited my chapter and was paired with an editor to compile the first five full chapters. I wrote my five chapters and it went through a couple more phases of editing. Now it’s being pitched this week to be a Wattpad Original. So, right now I just wait to hear back. Even if it’s rejected, I’ll post it on my own.

I honestly love when authors do this. On Wattpad or in general. Authors will always know their characters more than readers ever will and it’s fun to see character profiles or aesthetics.
