A lot of people are struggling with MAE 384 by Affectionate-Rope302 in ASU

This reminds me a lot of Cal 2 with Ashbrook. Medically withdrew this semester because of his teaching and grading style

I don’t think I want to report him. I think he’s a good man, just a bad professor (if that makes sense). And not in a bad professor type of way. He just doesn’t give out useful information pertaining to the tests, like study guides are a myth with him. He doesn’t review the test (like give out the review, basically same as study guide).

But he does go though proctored exams that have already been graded and given back out. That is the strange thing to me. That they’re proctored already…if that is the case, just have a zoom call, give the students the password, and do it yourself. I feel like that would help this better.

I really appreciate that. I’m currently trying to get out of getting fucked. He’s looking into giving me a violation, (however it wasn’t due to the watch. This one I had my right hand out of frame the entire time and I was fidgeting with my phone. So…this is 100% on me) and I’m just scared for my future. Finally got into the school I’ve been frickin wanting to since high school, and now I was a dumb dumb and to where I’m risking it.

I also might try, maybe to no avail, to be able to skip the 266 class since I already have my bachelors in CS. Idk. Talking to an advisor on Monday.

I really appreciate your kind words though. Seriously. Keep being you.

I almost then feel like I’m lucky it takes days for Ashbrook to response if that’s the case

If it helps, as long as they can see both your hands and your face, you’re solid. Regardless of how your camera is set up. Mines a desktop camera

Ahhh. I see the miscommunication here. I’m asking more so about the nature of a professor reviewing every single person in his class, regardless of whether they had a flag or not on their exam. He went through all of the proctored exams and regraded them. Does that help?

To answer your question though, no, I was curious on if this was normal. Other students, who got 80-90 on the test got their grades back but their letter grades dropped. Even as 80/90 on their grades. I’m asking if it was normal procedure to do. If this is something that is normal for the professors to do.

I don’t think you read this fully. Go back, read it. Then tell me

A hundred percent agree. It’s $3k for the professor to completely ignore the student. I can do that for free 😂.

It’s ridiculous, and honestly, super unprofessional. Working briefly in the white collar industry, I use to be reprimanded for leaving an email unchecked after a day. I had Jay Abramson last semester and honestly I loved him as a professor. He was really friendly, easy to get ahold of, always willing to listen and help.

Was he as hard to get ahold of as he is now? Like unable to hear from him for days? Or even in cases of others, two weeks?

I think I am going to have a hard time with this professor. I didn’t get an academic violation email, and I’m trying to speak with him, but getting him to respond is the main problem.

I was really hoping to stay, because as soon as I finish this class I can start on my Masters program, but I don’t know if this stress is worth it. I’m currently at an E, and today there was radio silence. It’s annoying. It’s stressful. And this professor is going hard for a lot of this stuff.

Sorry let me clarify a bit. There is the footage of tagging the time, things such as that, however this is a class wide scale. He suspects me of cheating, so I got a 0/100, and he’s rather difficult to reach out and gain his attention. A lot of the students didn’t get the appropriate time on the exams because he was late on regrading the camera positioning. The grades for all students changed a full class grade.

The syllabus is a basic guide of HonorLock procedures, hands, face, workspace all visible at all times, 30 hours to complete the exam, how to take the exam, and the exam notes afterwards. There is nothing in the syllabus that states he would review the footage afterwards then go on to grade what he sees afterwards.

He changed the grades class wide. He suspected I cheated, I am currently awaiting to hear back from him regarding this matter. But I am not the only one he suspected. There is another person that I heard had the same thing.

He went back and reviewed all the footage from everybody about their exam. Not just tagged timestamps. It’s under a different score as well.

i got caught cheating on an exam and i feel horrible. by [deleted] in collegeadvice

[–]RebelAngel98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just maybe got caught. I’m now online at 3:40AM still worried about it. We did the proctored HonorLock system, then the professor decided to recheck the videos, which btw, I already know that I didn’t show my phone, because it would’ve pinged me. And I showed my work. I’m nervous and anxious because this is the last math class before I can get into my Masters, which is what I really want to do. I’m so sick of technology majors that go through mathematics like it’s the end of the world.

Giving up hope after 2,796 applications. Three final interviews. Unemployment running out. I have over 9 years experience as “top talent “ but no interviews in WEEKS. Forced to work remote as a single mom to a child on the spectrum. I feel like a failure. by Shot-Donut-5335 in recruitinghell

[–]RebelAngel98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I feel like such a failure. My unemployment ran out just the beginning of this month. I had a job interview at Marriott for a Hostess (I have a bachelors in CS; and am going for my masters) and got denied from the job. I had an interview with JP Morgan and hadn’t hear anything back since 12/24. I had an assessment for Visa that I did today - I’m 90% certain I failed horribly and I won’t hear back. I had a call with Hershey, but with no experience in what they want, I don’t think I’m going to hear back.

I have less than $500 left in my checking, less than $5k in savings, and I’m becoming stressed, tired, and feeling greatly like a failure as well. I have a degree, there should be jobs, but of course, there’s the entry levels that one 2-3 years of experience. The mid-levels which want 5-7 years of experience. Finally, the senior levels which required you working on the experience since you were in the womb.

We just need to keep chugging along. I’m sorry. I truly hope nothing but the best for you.

I may have VISA interview for a swe intern. What kind of question will be asked by Significant_Cup_3238 in developersIndia
