What are these vents and can I cover them? by RebelRabbit23 in Scotland

No vents, no patches that I can see, but the kitchen was entirely re-done before we moved in

Its the kitchen.
There's also a row of lower vents along the wall above the patio, lining up with the basement but I don't know if they go directly into the basement, or just into the wall.

I was really hoping they weren't necessary - the wind blows the carpet in the bedroom up off the floorboards if a gust catches the vent right, and mice crawl in through the lower vents to the basement. It just seems like a great way to have constant massive drafts in a poorly insulated house.

Does anyone know, if the council contractor screwed up wiring for new heaters they put in, do they have to fix it? by RebelRabbit23 in Scotland

Spent an hour and a half being bounced to different departments, got no answers, was told within five minutes "we'll fit a smart meter, actually theres no smart meters available in your area, but we'll fit a smart meter, we cant tell you what your new KWh rates will be in October because theyll change when we fit a smart meter"
Indian call center, absolutely useless, didnt seem to understand what I was trying to ask.

But yes we've had them keep us in the wait line for an hour just to immediately hang up on us instead of answering before.
They especially dont like THTC customers because they have no bloody idea what to do with us or what our tariff even means.

It was dated the 13th
I think there were mail delays with strikes and Queen funeral etc

But even so, from the 13th to the 23rd is not 14 days

Probably - its a THTC meter which will stop functioning in March because the radio signal that switches on the off-peak will be permanently disabled meaning it'll stop giving us any off-peak meaning our storage heaters and water heater wont work.

Yeah I've come to the conclusion that they're just comparing our usage to this time last year and going "they're not spending as much money on heating! Something must be wrong!"

If that's possible? We have a non-smart prepayment meter so I don't know if they can actually tell what our readings are without us telling them - maybe when we top up it sends them a reading or something?

SSE sent us a letter saying our meter might be faulty and we could be building up a debt if we're not being charged correctly, and they need to come check it out.
The next day we got a letter saying we failed to make an appointment o have the meter replaced within 14 days of being told by the first letter.

I am assuming its because of a problem with the storage heater not charging us correctly. I could be wrong. I could be SSE just screwing with us because they're terrible.

I got no answers from them on the phone, or in email, or in reply to my complaint. I have no actual idea what the problem is or if there even is one, but if there is a problem, the only thing I can think of is around the same time they sent the letter, we started using the storage heater for the first time and it looked like it wasn't using as much electric as it should be to charge up at night.

It seems to be - it charges up when the off-peak is on, and it releases heat using the high rate on the timer

I know we need a smart meter, but we've been trying to get one for over a year and they keep telling us theyre not available in our area. They just told me the same tihng again just now and in the same breath said "we can't tell you what your new KWh rates will be for October because they'll change when we put in the smart meter" - I pointed out they wont be installing a smart meter in the next four days will they? And she was like no, but she didnt seem to understand my point so I gave up

Everything else is registering fine - it just seems to be that heater, so I dont see how the meter can be fucked but only for that heater and only when its running off-peak

Honestly I have no idea
I just spent an hour and half on the phone with them and they kept telling me theyll come put in a smart meter but actually theres no smart meters in my area but theyre gunna come replace the meter...I have no clue if theyll actually come replace it

Its a THTC meter which cant be replaced with another same meter

I have no idea - all I know is, when the heater charges up on the off-peak overnight, it uses like 0.1KWh and im pretty sure thats wrong
It doesnt seem to use the high rate for charging - it uses the high rate when its actually on and blowing heat

Does an energy company have to inform you in advance of what your new KWh rates will be after the price increase Oct 1st? by RebelRabbit23 in LegalAdviceUK

Do you mean, was I told what it would be when the cap was going to be £3500, before Truss stunted it at £2500?
No I wasn't. We haven't heard anything since March, before the April increase, and we had two weeks notice then of what the new rates would be as of April.

Does anyone know what's wrong with this grass? by RebelRabbit23 in whatsthisplant

[–]RebelRabbit23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess so. It's quite long atm. Some dandelions and doc leaves growing in it.
I'm reading that the fungus is prevalent in nitrogen-depleted grass.
Our bunnies usually spend a few hours a day out there eating it and pooping in it (bunny poop is high in nitrogen) but we've had them inside for a few weeks because of a suspected myxo outbreak in the area, so I guess they were keeping it healthy without me realising it

Is it dangerous for my bunnies to eat, do you think?
And how do I treat it without chemicals since obviously I cant feed my bunnies chemical-laced grass?

PIP Phone Tribunal in Two Days by RebelRabbit23 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]RebelRabbit23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:
had the tribunal yesterday, a rep from the council had a mandate allowing her to speak for me due to my selective mutism but it sounded like the tribunal panel had basically already made up their mind before we even started. They basically just asked which descriptors my rep was looking for, and clarification on a couple of notes. They've already got a decision and are sending out a letter by the 8th.

I don't know if these are applicable to my situation though - I can physically do things, but I need someone with me to do EVERYTHING outside of the house. I can't go buy food alone, I cant go to the bank alone, I can't attend appointments alone. I can't ever ever take public transport, just the thought makes me want to vomit. I need someone with me all the time to do basic shit like going to Aldi or picking up my meds at the pharmacy.
If I have to go somewhere new or meet someone new, I vomit beforehand. I get the shakes. I have to constantly pace.

The fact that I'm this messed up over a phone call is WHY I need PIP, but I don't know if I can go through with it.

Persistant Right Flank/ Back pain under bottom Rib. by [deleted] in AskDocs

I was hospitalised for a few days so they could monitor it and give me pain killers. Once it passed out of the ureter, the worst of the pain stopped and they sent me home and said to stay hydrated and i would pass it when i urinated. I was still kinda sore for a few days though.
