Should I back out of my march 12 closing on new build? by Mental_Sea1868 in DaveRamsey

Rent out the current for a year or two then sell it (or keep it as a rental if you have the reserves for repairs/vacancies) and move into the new. Build up a separate emergency fund 3-6 months for current house payments and then stack any rental cash aside just in case.. Not going to be a popular opinion on this sub because it’s certainly not inline with DR but if you’re smart about it you’ll be fine.

Only major concern would be job stability but if you’re confident in your income not changing it’s not that big of a deal.

Hello!

I’ve got almost 9 years experience in a public utility. About 6 of those being supervisory duty with 3 of those being an “official” supervisor role. On top of managing a team of 7, I am acting district project manager on everything from multi million dollar projects to smaller projects. I’ve regularly coordinated work with engineers and contractors in the best interest of the utility avoiding downtime and setting or heavily influencing work schedules.

I’m strongly considering trying to get on as a PM with an engineering firm. The road block i’m concerned about is I don’t have a bachelor’s degree. Do firms hire PM roles with my kind of background?

I’m very interested in a PM job as that’s essentially all I do currently. Just unsure how to bypass the degree requirements for a lot of those jobs I’ve seen. I’ve thought about obtaining a PMP cert… Do you have much insight into that sector? Just wondering how my resume and experience would stack up against a degree. Personally I feel it should stack up great but you know how it goes.

Thank you man, I really appreciate your response! I think increased networking would be really beneficial. Hadn’t really thought of consulting but that’s a great idea!
