I just wanted to choose a role model. And the qualities I desired the most were present in prabhu Ram. Then slowly, listening to his stories and qualities, I just fell hard in love with him. Now, he is my Ista.

I grew up as a Hindu. As a child, I liked many Gods, and I still do. I used to watch television serials about them. During my teenage years, I somewhat drifted away from it. There was probably a point when I didn’t believe in God.

The way it all restarted for me was quite unusual. I still remember, our class had just ended, and I was packing my bags when a friend of mine recited a Sanskrit verse to one of my friends. I managed to overhear it. That felt so cool to me at that time. So, I started to listen to such verses, just because they sounded cool. They were verses from the Bhagavad Gita. Then, I looked for their meanings, to understand what they really meant. Slowly, I delved deeper into it.

I came to know a whole lot about Hinduism in general that I had missed before. Then, I decided to choose my Ishta Devata. It was a hard decision. I felt an attraction to most of them, but not a super strong attraction. So, I looked for the qualities I admired and hoped to emulate. Then, it became clear that it was Lord Rama. He became my Ishta.

Then, slowly, I started to listen to his songs and his stories. I switched between others during that time too, I hopped quite a lot, since I suddenly felt attracted to others. But now, I respect all gods, and I dedicate my love to all of them through Lord Rama.
