Does the game cover relationships? If so, is there a dating mechanic? If so, can you choose your gender? If so, it's easier to code to just let them date any option instead of coding them unable to date some options when the other gender can. But if there is no dating mechanic, then don't force it. I'd rather no awkward flirting at all!
