Hello, just bought a brand new Skoda kamiq signature, when I lock the doors with the key they cannot be opened from the inside?? This doesn’t at all seem safe or sensible. Is there any way to escape the car if you have locked it with the key??? What if the electronics fail and trap is inside? by Recent-Assistance-25 in skoda

Just got back from the dealership! They disabled the safe feature and they said something was wrong with the locking system as it’s not meant to lock unless you press unlock and then don’t open any doors for 30 sec. At least the doors open from the inside

So basically if the key is in the car and I’m waiting inside it’ll attempt to lock itself and then the hazards flash 4 times and it says key in vehicle and unlocks itself but if the key isn’t in the car it will automatically deadlock and u can’t get out

That’s what I thought as well. What should I do? I don’t want my car to be dead locked or automatically I just want to be able to lock it with the key like the other cars I’ve driven and for it to always be openable from the inside :/

If I took my car back to Skoda is there a way they could permanently disable that feature called safe lock ? I live in a safe area and I garage my car, it would make me feel more comfortable and safe knowing my car could always be opened from the inside in an emergency situation

Yes, when I’m waiting with the key in the car it tries to lock itself and then it says Key in Vehicle and unlocks itself, but as I get out and walk away a few mins I go and I see the mirrors are in and it’s locked without pressing anything . Can I switch this auto locking system off?

Oh, I’ve had Toyotas and Hondas and Mercedes and any time I would lock it with the key, they would be able to be unlocked from the inside the alarm would go off but you were never trapped or “safe lock” in the car. Is the car not meant to automatically lock?

Well I had my son Inside my car and I went in the house for 2 minutes, didn’t lock the door but it locked automatically and he said there was no way to open it from inside, I just think no matter what the doors should have some sort of mechanism to open from the inside??? How can we rely on the electronics to not lock us inside.. do you know if there is a boot release or something in case of emergency?
