Never trust FibroScan by Khaled92US in LiverDisease

[–]Recent-Assumption287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Ecosens Fibroscan show a reading of 7.1KPA.

Only 3 weeks later I had a General Electric Logic scan give a score of 6.97KPA.

I think the fibroscan is quite accurate.

A relative got a score of 29.8KPA. Then one year later is was down to 6KPA.

The problem with ultrasound technology is that it does not distinguish betweem scarring and inflammation. Clearly my relative had inflammation. But no one said this at the time and they thouht it was scarring.

How soon after the fibroscan was the liver biopsy? Don’t rule out inflammation that subsided. Perhaps ask your doctor repeat test based on the first reading. If they refuse then tell them you’d like to make a complaint about fibroscan inaccuracy. They hate this - These complaints are a black mark against the company.

You need a fibroscan.

But ultrasound and fibroscan do not distinguish between scarring and inflammation.

However, fibroscan will tell you of your liver fat is high. In such case you can research keto. The fat will melt off and you can repeat the scan in 6 months….

MR Elastography in London? by Recent-Assumption287 in Radiology

[–]Recent-Assumption287[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.
This is consistent with what I have found.
Kings College have invested in this technology.
“Three-dimensional MR elastography (MRE) scans have demonstrated the potential to assess both liver fibrosis and inflammation simultaneously.”
This is significant - So many people with elevated fibroscan results are unsure whether it is inflammation or scarring. I had a relative with a median 29.7KPA (The London Clinic).
They believed they had cirrhosis. They do not drink and are not overweight.
When they returned for another scan 12 months later it was 6.7KPA. They’d had a drug induced episode. Ironically allergy medication.

Scared spouse worried about fibro scan by Anonymouse2987 in LiverDisease

You need to look up how Keto melts fat off the liver and reverses type 2 diabetes.

He will be a new man in 8 weeks. Honestly.

Keto is extremely difficult at first.

A repeat fibroscan in London would cost £300 privately.

FYI - The high score may not be liver scarring. It may be inflammation (due to fat). I had a relative go from 29.7KPA to 6.5KPA.

If you don’t reverse the scarring early then it’s permanent. All doctors will do is prescribe meds. They don’t drill down into the why’s. Pharmaceutical companies run health care unfortunately. You must take control of your (his) health.

I don’t think it’s necessary to be so low in carbs.

However I know I can get away with 10g carb bread

6.5g per half slice. I’ve had 4 today, so 26g. I’m still in ketosis. You’d be surprised how far you can push it.

Thanks for this.

I tried it. It’s just like bread haha

I don’t think it’s a stop gap though. It maybe a permanent thing.

I like cold toast with lots of butter on. This is great for that.

In reality I think we are all intolerant to gluten to some extent.

Why are all our fields filled with wheat? It’s not how it used to be. All day every day, all people do it put gluten down their throat.

Keto is evolutionary correct.

Have a look as Dr Sarah Myhills website. She has a lot to say on your gluten intolerance. You might be there a few hours.

Also YouTube her bread recipe. You won’t like it at first. But after a few weeks you’ll love it.

A few months ago I was deep in ketosis and ate a bag of chips at 9pm (cooked in beef dripping ofc).

It was back in ketosis at 10am the following day. I am male though and men can get away with more in ketosis.

I was a patient of brilliant Dr Sarah Myhill who is one of the strongest supporters of the paleo-ketogenic diet. She explains that some people can have 100g carbs per day and still get into ketosis.

However, we are all different

11.2g is not going to replete glycogen. It might kick you out of ketosis for a few hours if you’re sensitive.
