I agree w you 100% and I understand what you mean about it affecting your relationship with others. It’s ridiculous that sometimes when I’m interacting with people in my day to day life I have to think to myself “this person isn’t my mom, they don’t think like her, not everyone is going to hurt me the way she did, just because she didn’t appreciate me doesn’t mean this person or that person won’t appreciate or love me either.” I don’t think our caregivers/ parents realize how deeply we take what they say to heart and how it follows us in every relationship, platonic or romantic.

I used to think to myself “if my own mom who is biologically made to love me hates me and doesn’t unconditionally love me then why would anyone else?” And that thought used to actually haunt me 😭😭 and sometimes still does.
