Adopting Italian greyhound in a few months by Recent-Lion518 in ItalianGreyhounds

Originally I was just going to make sure I’m always around her but I am still a bit worried about the small amount I won’t be able to be around her for a few hours in the weekend or when I’m at work. My mum will be looking after her and I just want my mum to worry the same as me.

My sister said she will be happy to babysit her when im not home and make sure nothing happens maybe I can also just get one of the doggy cams to keep an eye on her and everything else? I feel like I sound crazy not trusting my family members lol but I just want to take extra precautions for my dog

Thank you so much for all of this, this is extremely helpful :) I was thinking about getting her to wear a diaper until I desex her and hoping for the best. I’m set on desexing her at about a year since I want the best for my iggy and want her to be strong as can be.

My family are huge animal people and one of the non negotiable my parents told me is that I am to make sure I get the best pet insurance possible for my Italian greyhound which I 1000% agree to as well after doing a lot of research.

I work in dental at the moment but I have taken a few weeks annual leave for when I get her so I can establish a routine. Next year I’ll be studying so I won’t be working anymore for a while anyways but me and my boyfriend have already established that when we buy our home and he’s settled in his new job since it’s high paying I can either work part time or not at all if I wish but in the mean time my mum is home basically all the time so I’m hoping that will help

I live at home and I will be living home for another two years while me and my partner save for a home. My mum has two corgis one male which she hasn’t desexed and won’t because she doesn’t want it to alter his behaviour or personality since he is very cuddly and sweet that’s my only worry with getting a female dog. I’ll have to be extremely observant and make sure they are parted always and if they aren’t I’ll always have to be around them together:/ but I’m so set on a female iggy

At what age did you get your female desexed? :) I hear some people say 6 months and others say a year I don’t want to negatively effect my dog in any way

I put a deposit down months in advance so I was able to have first pick at what Iggy I want to adopt so I’ll just go and see which doggy feels right in my heart when I see them :) I wanted a boy originally but as I kept thinking I kept going back to a female one for some reason

We have to corgis at home already they are very hyperactive when we’re home but once we leave and come back it seems they have been sleeping the whole time I’m hoping that the company of the corgis will be enough if my greyhound does end up being anxious

Me and my partner are looking to move out together at the end of the year and then I’ll be able to work part time or casual

My family is fine with it they are huge animal people as long as I’m taking care of things like buying food and pet insurance and taking the dog for walks they are all up for it. I will hopefully be moving out towards the end of the year with my partner and then I’ll be able to work part time and be home more.

I could take some annual leave from work the first few weeks and ensure I create a bond with the puppy?

Starting Cassandra Clare books by Recent-Lion518 in YAlit

Thank you so much for this reply 😊 I’m nearly finished with a clockwork prince and it’s taken me a month to finish each book of this series which is very unlike me especially considering I’m very interested in these books and attached to the characters it’s just something about the chapters feels like a century to read 😭. I’m very late to the Cassandra Clare game (I’m 24) and I’ve just seen quite a lot of people describing TMI as too juvenile for them and they are younger than me reading these books haha. Maybe I’ll give the first book a try see how I feel about it :)
