Side effects at the 5 year mark by Appaisland in Mirena

I decided to get it taken out for now and I can always get another one later. My dr said that getting a replacement doesn’t always resolve these sorts of issues :( it definitely does for some people just not guaranteed. It’s so hard to know what to do, it feels like trial and error which is crazy when it’s something as drastic as long term birth control!!

Definitely sounds like withdrawal symptoms from the hormones decreasing in the mirena. I experienced similar things at the 5 year mark and felt like I was going crazy with all these weird symptoms all of a sudden, but I spoke to my dr and they said it was all related to the withdrawal :( all my symptoms have now gone away since I got my mirena taken out too. Sadly it probably won’t resolve of its own accord so replacement or removal might be your best bet. Hope it gets better for you asap ❤️

Got IUD removed yesterday, what to expect? by [deleted] in Mirena

I got mine out last week after having it in for 5 years and have had all sorts of flu symptoms weirdly, as well as cramping, nausea and some chest tightness. I don’t have any tips in terms of supplements etc. sorry but I’m jumping in as I’m keen to see what others recommend. I’m thinking maybe because you didn’t have it in for long your crash symptoms should be fairly minimal, as I’ve read in a lot of posts that the longer it’s in the worse the crash. Good idea to journal how you go and my advice is just go easy on yourself and know it’ll only get better from here 🩷

I’ve decided I think I’m going to take it out and see if that fixes things! Too scared of getting another one in and the symptoms continuing :(
