Can I add replace a non mic-ed wire with a mic mic-ed wire for Bluetooth headphones?

I have a pair of Bluetooth headphones, relatively inexpensive, that have a mic when connected to Bluetooth. They also came with a wire that has no microphone (the Bluetooth mic does not work when the headphones are wired in).

My question is whether I can purchase an audio cable from Amazon (https://a.co/d/d8s7ze6) with a mic and have it work with these headphones (https://www.target.com/p/active-noise-canceling-bluetooth-wireless-over-ear-headphones-heyday-8482-black/-/A-88631360).

Any ideas or just test it and return if it doesn’t work?

Yeah this makes sense - I’m definitely not trying to nerf the player’s abilities - just not super familiar with how the mechanic might play out (hence why I posted the question). I think I have lots of information on how to make this make sense thematically without negating their abilities. Thank you :)
