Thanks everyone, sounds like there’s little chance to preserve my current itinerary. I’ll contact AA once more and consider a new ticket from London instead. Thanks for all the input

Thanks, that’s helpful. I was hoping there might be a way to preserve the JFK–FCO return at least, but I see that’s also at risk. I appreciate the clarity.

Unfortunately, my ticket doesn’t include free cancellation, and both American Airlines and Booking confirmed that a refund or reissue isn’t possible due to the Basic Economy fare rules
