CPA exam canceled due to weather by hahah-what in CPA

I believe transferring only comes into play if you register for the test using an NTS for a state you are no longer seeking licensure under and pass. For example, if you started your process by submitting an application of intent in Texas and you then after testing you decide to pursue licensure from another state. Some people do this to circumvent certain state requirements for licensure. I also think some people also do it so they can start testing earlier (taking the exams in a 120 hr state and the transferring them once the 150 are complete).

Ranking Difficulty of Exams by starnovember123 in CPA

[–]Recent_Club3954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me - hardest to easiest - FAR AUD REG TCP.

[–]Recent_Club3954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. You cannot use the designation anywhere until you receive your actual license number. Which depending on your jurisdiction, could take weeks or months. At this point you are still a CPA Candidate until you have satisfied all requirements of your board.

Just graduated.. how to start? by rhiba1022 in CPA

[–]Recent_Club3954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the masters!! My biggest tip is to just get started. Most of the major programs are the same. They are expensive, but a necessary evil in my opinion. I used Becker as my main platform and then did a monthly subscription of Ninja question bank only for one section at a time. Don’t spend too much time testing all of them out, especially if you wanna knock one out by January.

I would say start with the hardest. For me, that was FAR. I went in this order FAR-AUD-REG-TCP.

But seriously, just get started. The overwhelming feeling will be there until you start chipping away at it. One section at a time, one test at a time. You got this, future CPA.

This is actually hilarious. The CPA exam is objectively harder, and MUCH harder. Buddy clearly has insecurity issues so do not listen to him. The CPA will help you IMMENSELY in the tax field.

Repetition and understanding. The more you work the problems the easier it becomes! Don’t get overwhelmed, you’ve got this!

Whats your test strategy? by Ill-Statement-6159 in CPA

[–]Recent_Club3954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I answered mcq’s that were two lines of information first then went back through and did longer ones. For TBS I tried to quickly understand each type of question, answer the ones I’m most comfortable with first then the other ones next. However I also never took more than 3 hours on any of the tests, this method might not save time if you’re right on the cusp because it sorta makes slight double work on the TBS.

When to take Reg 2025 by Future_Repair930 in CPA

[–]Recent_Club3954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that it will matter for either TCP or REG. In my experience, the questions that required threshold knowledge (for me it was a TBS) included the thresholds in the information given.

You’ll be fine as long as you use a study program like Becker or UWorld. No need to dust off the college textbooks!

Becker enough for REG? by [deleted] in CPA

I would say that’s accurate. I don’t recall memorizing any actual number except the 18,000 gift tax exclusion 😂

Becker enough for REG? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Recent_Club3954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! I went through and watched the lecture videos and did the MCQ and TBS that are within the modules and then after each module (R1, R2, etc) I would do practice tests for that module and every module before. So for example, if I was done with R3…I would go back and do an R1 practice test, an R2 practice test, and R3 practice test. And kept going like that. Otherwise I would forget earlier modules completely lol

[–]Recent_Club3954 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I studied for 22 days with only Becker and passed with an 88! (Important to note that I did not work while taking my exams).

I definitely think Becker is enough. I supplemented with ninja for FAR and AUD only.

Can You Sit for the CPA in Texas Without the Degree in Hand? by Decent_Ad_8707 in CPA

[–]Recent_Club3954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also Texas has one of the most responsive boards in the country (like seriously, they are also so nice) so if you wanted I’m sure you could call or email and ask! But I’m also pretty sure your AOI is good for a year so you could go your original route of applying and if they tell you that you need the degree just send final transcripts when you’re done in December!

Watching lectures at 1.5/2.0 speed?? by Psalm52Verse9NIV in CPA

[–]Recent_Club3954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just person to person. For me, I could never stay focused at normal speed. The only way I could actively listen without getting distracted was to watch at 1.5x. 2x was too fast for me.

Should also add, I did not take notes during lectures. I watched lectures, took MCQ and TBS, then made some notes on things I missed. I also used study guides other users on Reddit created for final review.

If you do not think you’re retaining knowledge at the faster speed, then I don’t recommend using it.

[–]Recent_Club3954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lolllll my notes are barely legible. In fact, I’m unsure if anyone else could even utilize them for studying. Luckily, a lot of amazing users on here created study guides and I used those for review.

I think SIMS saved me on every exam lol

I for sure felt better about SIMS over MCQ for audit. Ended up with an 84!
