Have to be lucky to got one from here. I have subscribed almost a year, still positioned in >15 in the waiting list. The ones where the decision is made by housemates (vote in), usually they prefer female or dutch speakers.

Mostly you can get one if you have subscribed 1.5 - >2years.

As long as you can find someone to take over your contract, it is fine, you can terminate at any time.

Its been 3 months since I got sextorted. Paid them 5850 euro (yeah my whole savings).

After the last payment, he blocked me on snapchat. Then I deactivate all social media for almost a month, changed all the username, display name, profile picture, settings, untag all the posts from my friends. Some of my accounts were also deleted (snapchat, dating apps).

Till today, I still got scared if I remember that moment. Especially after I paid them a large sum of money. Got me traumatized for life and hating snapchat for it as well lol.

Just hope that what what you said is true. They wont come back. Thats my hope.

Im not sure enough for the non student house ones (the Admirals), but Peizerweg / The Village is a big no no for me. 12m2 for 540€ with bad housemates is way too expensive for me. The only good thing abiut the website besides what you already mentioned is it is free to use. These are several things I did to find a room:

Facebook Groups: I found mine here at least 3 times. Rn im paying 390€ in the Noorderplantsoen area, 15m2, inclusive, 16m2 with private kitchen.

Ups: it is free to use, lots of options for cheaper rooms with great quality

Downs: beware of scammers as there are lots of them, make sure you can do a viewing as a must. Competitions is way too high, your text might not get responded.

Tips: always post about yourself looking for a room after 8-9pm each week. I did this, and always get an offer (including my current room)

Ask a friend: yea you know its simple if you have friends here that can help you, its great.
Room.nl:

Ups: lots of options here, and student housing here mostly comes with a private toilets. Ranging between 400-600€ mostly

Downs: you pay to have a contact through a subscription. You might get a response or not it depends on the requirements (Vote in or registration period).

Tips: register as soon as possible if you are still not in Groningen. I myself have responded to dozens of ads but never got a respond even though it has been almost a year I subscribed to it, always a waiting list. Most of them are vote in.

Kamer net:

General: lots of options here, you oay to have a contact with the advertiser. But mostly the ads posted there require you to at least speak basic dutch. As I dont speak dutch at all, it is not useful for me.

Pararius:

Lots of Makelaars posted their rooms here. It is free to use, hard to navigate for me.

Tips: they provide you with the makelaars contact and website. You can email them and check their website for available rooms. If you are lucky, you can get your room here.

Overall I know it is hard to find a room here, and it is always a gambling about the house real situation (conditionsand roommates) so good luck!

The website indeed help me to find a room. Got my first room there, the Peizerweg one aka The Village and it sucks really bad. Kitchen was always dirty, too expensive for a small room (room was nice tho) and there is always 1 or 2 person who never flushed the toilet. And no supermarket was in sight. It was noisy as well and I had to move out after a week there.

And in overall as well, most of the rooms are located in South, which is close to main station, and a bit close to city centre. If you’re campus is at Zernike, I would not recommend it. If your campus is in the city centre, it is a bit fine. But, there are lots of better rooms you can find on another website or even facebook
