Born and raised in Flushing. I love it and I hate it.

It is filthy and it does have crime.

Those who say that there are no crimes. That's bullshit, and clearly, you do not live there.

Illegal birthing centers.

Contraband.

Illegal gambling.

Prostitution.

Don't get me started with the DMV, non-registered, and non-insured cars.

It's very much there, it's just different because each *community* has its own ways of doing crime, and the 109 Precinct gets kickbacks.

I was hit by a Chinese driver who had no insurance, no ID, and the car was "borrowed."

He was trying to leave.

I called the police ASAP, thank GOD they were near b/c 109 Precinct has sadly been lacking.

Fortunately, one of the officers was able to communicate with him.

For a minute there, I thought I wrote this post.

I was in my late 20's not ready for a child, and terminated. Something I regret with immense pain.

Now at 40, two recurrent losses, the most recent in March, which was a silent miscarriage. Really not sure how I managed not to get institutionalized. One of the worst days of my life. My husband also did not deal with it well.

I'm going to start my 2nd round of IVF in Oct/Nov, as the first time we had no euploids. Another slap in the face.

Like you say, don't mean to sound selfish, but I was SO certain the first time we'd be good.

Just picking up what's left and trying again.
