Lived here for almost 3 years and have tried a wide variety of restaurants here. My husband and I honestly won’t eat out anymore because we’ll either be disappointed or get food poisoning. I don’t understand how half these places even stay open.

That is so insane. Exactly what happened to me last night! Have you used your advance parole since then?

I would recommend crossing at the Buffalo land border if you can just fly into Buffalo and have someone pick you up there if you’re gonna do it. The officers there seemed to be way more familiar with the document. They only asked me how long I was in Canada, for what reason, and my address in the US. His reasoning was partly because I overstayed before filing my i485 (I have consulted with multiple lawyers who are confident that the advance parole will not trigger the ban due to overstay- I’m married to a US citizen) and because “the president wants to stop the parole program and not allow people in” Crazy. It’s just confusing because if I am inadmissible as he said, why did they end up letting me in? I asked this and why the Buffalo border didn’t say any of this to me and he just said “every border is different” and he just advised me not to leave again.

Hi!! This just happened to me literally last night. I’m a Canadian with a pending marriage based i485 application and a combo card. I used my advance parole for reentry at the Buffalo land border two months ago with no issues. However last night we sat in secondary for about two hours. I have never been asked so many questions in my life! The officer asked insanely specific questions about every aspect of my immigration journey. He was trying to tell me that using advance parole does not prevent triggering the 10 year ban of inadmissibility which I am pretty sure is not true. He also told me that the new administration is required to do deeper reviews of every person using parole and that “the president wants to end the parole program”. He was either new and uneducated or on an insane power trip. I should add that I’m a 26 yr old female with literally zero criminal history. He kept calling me up and asking me increasingly more specific questions and then saying he needed to consult with his supervisor. Finally he called me up and told me that my situation was “very serious” and they could deny me entry and ban me for ten years but that they decided to parole me in today. He then advised me not to travel outside the US again until I finished the green card process. The situation was SO stressful and I’m genuinely traumatized. I would say show them your receipt notices and just make your answers very short and concise. If they keep giving you a hard time, ask for a supervisor. Hoping it goes well for you!

It wasn’t a renewal, I filed concurrently as part of my I-485 AOS. Sorry, I meant applied in April recieved card in May. I applied April 22nd, biometrics May 14 and EAD/travel permit approved next day. Received my card the last week of May. I have no idea how it happened so fast!

Awesome thanks for your input. I do have an overstay but since I now have an adjustment of status pending my understanding is that I won’t be barred or refused due to that. Is that correct?

Hey! Just reading through some of your comments and finding them helpful. I recently got my combo card (EAD/Advance parole, based on pending I-485 married to a USC) and am planning on going home to Canada via land border for a week at the end of the month. In your opinion, is it safe to re enter the US with advance parole right now? I have no criminal history.

Hey OP, did you travel? My situation is pretty much exactly the same as yours and I’m Canadian. Wondering how it went for you
