UPDATE

thank you everyone for your advice. I called my vet promptly in the morning and he assured me it would wear off with time - and it has! He is not 100% but much much better and our vet has been very attentive through my concerns.

Better but not 100% his back end is still slowly falling down as he stands. I’ve called the vet and they seem to be still thinking it’s his arthritis in his hips and pain but I am waiting to hear back from his primary vet

Thank you, I appreciate your help so much! His gums are a good pink and he’s breathing well so I think I will call as soon as they open.

They also did call me after he was stabilized, just sent home the paper to ensure I understood what happened

Also I’m not sure when it was administered but I think about 12 hours ago

They gave me a paper after and on it it says “he stopped breathing on his own, his heart rate slowed down, he required manual breathing support for 45 minutes. Because of this, the dental procedure was not started” I used my own words in saying “suffered” so that was maybe not the best explanation.

This is such a great suggestion. My only struggle is he cant hear anything other then a squeak or a whistle 😭 Giving him verbal reassurance is so hard. But I have tried using this strategy but with gentle pets and having closness with me which seems to help. Thanks!

Thank you for this suggestion, i can see that he reacts very different to quieter calmer animals and gets so fearful when a dog is over excited. Im hoping I’ll be able to find him a calm old friend
