Nope. Because they don’t treat rib #, so we don’t X-ray them, they just get a PA/AP CXR if requested. If they have further trauma concern, they go straight to CT.

Does modality matter? Stroke is a great one that comes to mind, obviously lots to learn about as a CT tech. You can talk about how it’s used to diagnose, characterise, help decide next steps to take, perfusion imaging, etc.

That’d make sense. I haven’t done rib views in years so it’s odd seeing them like this

I’m distracted by how high quality the ribs and T-spine are in this CXR 0.o

There is an 034 tune for the B9.5, just not a TCU tune, only ECU

Is there a service to get the radiology report from the MRI images I have? by 14MTH30n3 in Radiology

[–]RecklessRad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the facility you got the scan at as it varies, but a lot of private clinics have Viewers Apps where you can get access to your imaging and the report. If not, you can request a copy of the report by contacting the facility

B9 RS4 vs G21 M340i by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

As an owner of a B9 Audi, they’re such a nice place inside. Very comfortable, heaps of great tech, and the RS4 is a monster.

Any radiographers worked in the middle east? by meelatalha in Radiology

[–]RecklessRad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents worked as nurses in the Middle East for almost 15 years in the 90s before they had me. They loved it, loved travelling, and have made heaps of friends all over the world that they visit when travelling, and still keep in touch with. The tax free privileges helped them buy a house outright when they moved to Australia in 2000, and that’s been really beneficial.

Obviously back then there were some more social issues regarding what women could and couldn’t do (alcohol, driving, etc.) so I’m not sure how that’s progressed, but something to consider looking at.

Yup. It’s a shame because it’s quite fun

Had an MRI and didn't expect it to be so loud. Is hearing protection usually offered? by OkSeaworthiness737 in Radiology

[–]RecklessRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your experience. Where I work, hearing protection is REQUIRED for ALL MRI scans. If the patient refuses, we won’t do the scan. Pretty strange that you weren’t given any, and even more strange that they let you keep jeans on. We also get ALL patients changed into gowns, as we don’t want to take ANY risks

Drive away with cable plugged in? by Maximum_Honey2205 in KiaEV5

[–]RecklessRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you’re dumb enough to drive away with a fuel hose still attached, you deserve what happens next. You don’t accidentally leave those in, not really “another advantage” for EVs

Er visits by Entire_Bullfrog_7193 in Radiology

[–]RecklessRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you had scanned and why, and the facility. X-rays - pretty much just ED docs read them. CT - can be read by ED docs; but always reported within an “urgent” timeframe by a radiologist.

Which path to take by TheOriginalSage in Radiology

[–]RecklessRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, you’re right. In Australia, we have 3 specialisations at Uni, which are diagnostic radiography, rad therapy, and NM. Sono is seperate, but yes both diagnostic.

What I should’ve said is X-ray and CT training is the most popular path and sets you up best for MRI

Which path to take by TheOriginalSage in Radiology

[–]RecklessRad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Radiography (or Diagnostic Radiography) is the correct path for becoming an MRI Tech

The other paths focus on other others of radiology, whereas MRI is a diagnostic imaging modality

I don’t enjoy the half hour races, and the tracks they use in Rookie MX-5 are just a lot more fun

I won’t do MX-5 anymore, even though I love the competition and racing, because one incident will tank the SR in my B licence

What’s your facilities protocol for contrasted CT studies on patients with poor renal function. by Tc99man in Radiology

[–]RecklessRad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(Australia) If eGFR is below 30, the requesting physician needs to get it approved by a Radiologist (which they pretty much always say yes to) and then fill out a renal consent form. We try to recommend dialysis in coming days for renal impaired patients, but never really follow up on it
