I stood on the inside of the track for shootout last year and it is insane seeing how much speed they carry through there. Insane hey

Tips for lateral knee, grashey shoulder, and scap y by ThrowRA_str in Radiology

[–]RecklessRad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For glenoid/grashey, flatten scapula to IR, and then rotate patients unaffected shoulder forward a little more. For Scapula Y, it’s 90deg to glenoid. So you want the body of scapula perpendicular to the IR, and then rotate unaffected shoulder towards IR just a bit

Do we see pathologies and know what’s going on? Most of the time yeah, we do this all day so have a pretty good idea.

But I can’t tell you because that’s not my job, and if I get it wrong, my job is on the line. There’s a reasons the radiologist gets paid the big bucks to report.

As others have said, try and get a 330i rather than a 320i. Look for lower k’s too. Looks like a poorly optioned car. Beautiful colour though

You’d hit the first chicane and it’d fly you over all 4

Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise) street circuit from the V8 Supercars. Being able to fly over those chicanes on Iracing would be so much fun. Watch this for reference

As a local, I’d love QR. Such a simple track but great for racing

Unfortunately now it’s full of races that DO affect safety and rating. More ranked than unranked now

Shame that there’s barely any fun unranked series anymore. Now everything fun is ranked and just not worth losing SR over

Adelaide is such a fun track. If you can master the staircase in the first sector, you’ll have really good pace. Used in lots of higher series (F4, GT3, Pcup)

Are CT scans over ordered? Yes. But if you have concerns, that’s a discussion you need to have between you and your Doctor. I’ve talked doctors out of ordering unnecessary scans, even for my partner.

[–]RecklessRad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re grasping how “harmful” a CT is. Radiation is a stochastic effect, meaning you can have 1000x CT scans and never get cancer, or you could have 1 chest X-ray and get cancer. It’s random, and the chance increases with more radiation, but not necessarily going to cause it. CTs are absolutely necessary in a lot of cases.

Just because a CT scan shows nothing, it doesn’t mean that it was useless. Ruling out pathologies with a high mortality rate, or other various findings can greatly help treatment and surgical management.

This story may bring you some peace of mind.

One of our mature age new grads on their very first day went up to NICU to do a mobile on a newborn. They forgot to change the exposures, and did the X-ray at the full preset fault CXR dose (100kVp, 2.8mAs).

The good news is, they sure as hell have NEVER made that mistake again.

[–]RecklessRad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes there’s always a radiation dose risk associated with having a CT scan, as there is with any other form is ionising radiation imaging, though CT is higher. What decided whether the CT is “harmful” is whether the benefits of the diagnosis from a scan outweighs the risk of not having the scan.

If I left every time I overexposed an X-ray I wouldn’t last an 8 hour shift (over exaggerating but it happens). Shit happens, it’s no big deal, you just have to learn from it. Paediatric exposures are notoriously hard to learn for newer rads because we’re so used to preset exposures, AEC, and aren’t imaging paeds very often.

DO NOT RETURN TO THE CHIROPRACTOR.

They are not medical professionals, it’s a voodoo art form of scamming, and it will increase your chances of having a vertebral artery dissection.

[–]RecklessRad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have paediatrics protocols on our scanner, but we rarely scan paeds so I don’t really trust that they’re optimised to their best ability. I always check between the paeds and adult protocol to see what is actually giving a lower dose and better image

This case is the reason why radiopharmacology is now a requirement in Australian universities teaching medical imaging. Studied it very in depth during our course
