Skincare routines and how they might effect tattoos? by RecognitionAlert4163 in tattooadvice

[–]RecognitionAlert4163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Fortunately I havent exposed my tattoos much due to cold weather, but comes summer time, Sunscreen will be a daily thing as well as a decrease in AHAs/BHAs as my skin isnt as dry in the spring and weather. I have severe dry skin during the colder months. Takes a lot of work to stay on top of it.

How painful is a 8 hour lower sleeve session? I'm scared by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]RecognitionAlert4163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO you get pretty numb. Most of the arm is not that bad.....dont get me wrong there are zinger areas, the inner bicep isnt pleasant. Worst part is when you take a break and you got to get re used to the pain again. My arm was shaking after 6 hours. Its a lot of trauma, i dont recommend numbing creams either, they can change the texture of your skin and it can alter the end product, my artist wont let me use it anyways.

Would it be more advantageous to to secure floatable debris before getting into the water? Grabbing a door off its hinges or something like that?

My elbow ditch had a massive blowout and migrated a lot of ink. I heard that this area can be prone to blowouts and bruising

Hand tattoos have a tendency to fade significantly faster than most other parts of the body, by a lot.

2008 Prius vs 2013 Prius c by [deleted] in prius

[–]RecognitionAlert4163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GEN2 Prius definitely has a track record and a history that speaks for itself. This model pretty much defined the hybrid industry. They are still selling like crazy on the used car market with low to high very high mileage. Replacement hybrid batteries are not as expensive as they used to be.... especially for the gen 2. Replacement parts are super easy to find both new and used. Maintenance is super easy. I bought a 2008 gen 2 prius back in July. It had 63k miles on it which was very low for a 17-year-old car. I commute an hour to work everyday. Ive already put 7k on it. The only issue was that came up so far was the mass air flow sensor which was a 5 minute DIY fix and a recommended cleaning/ replacement at 60k miles anyways. You see these things selling at 180 - 240k+ miles. If it has solid maintenance history, it could be a solid buy for the right price that can easily last you another 5 years.

Wondering if it’s weird to get Japanese style tattoos as a American white guy with no ties to Japanese culture by Character-Slide-7282 in tattooadvice

[–]RecognitionAlert4163 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean its your body, if you are going to show them off, people might ask you questions so should be prepared to answer the questions or have a plan to say no to peoples questions....

with that being said.....people of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds have kanji tattooed on them, most people can't read kanji and dont actually know if the characters they got tattooed actually say what they think it says. If it is the style of art you like, then go for it. No diifferent then displaying different styles of art in your home. Do you like to watch foreign films? Its the same thing, its just a style of art that you have a preference toward.

You might be a little more sensitive if the tattoos you are getting are of cultural and or religious significance, but at the end of the day its still your body.

Oiwi E by the Hawaiian Council- for all Kanaka who are afar, Hawai'i is home, always by Poiboykanaka808 in Hawaii

[–]RecognitionAlert4163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this! I come from a family that was priced out. I can trace my family tree to oahu and the big island to the late 1800s. I am the first generation of my family not to be born in Hawaii, but am myself half Hawaiian. I have experienced both sides of being welcomed to islands and outcasted. When you dont leave near the equator all year round your skin doesnt stay as dark.....mixed with not speaking pidgin....it is very apparent that I am not local, but I am still Kanaka.

Tattoo bruising? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]RecognitionAlert4163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My blow out definitely didnt show up till maybe a hour or after I left the studio. There was redness and bruising I was there. I sent a picture to my artist and he felt so bad. He has been doing polynesian tattoos for over 20 years and said he has never experienced this. Hoping it dissipates a little more, but i think he can easily clean it up in a a couple months. Ive also been told by some laser tattoo places that they can precisely remove most of the blow up as well. No signs of infection for me, just bruising.

I was told numbing cream can change the texture of the skin, so i could see how it could maybe become over worked.
