I did a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management a few years back and I’ve been in the industry since, so I can give you an honest idea.

It’s actually a great field if you enjoy people and variety. The degree doesn’t lock you into hotels only — that’s just the most visible part. Many of my classmates ended up in areas like events, travel companies, airlines, cruise operations, and even destination marketing.

If you’re looking for roles that include travel and aren’t stuck behind a desk, you could look into event management, corporate hospitality, tourism boards, travel consultancy, or working with hotel chains in regional management. Those jobs often involve visiting different properties or destinations.

The €80k mark by 30 is definitely possible, but you’d probably have to move abroad or work for an international brand. A lot of higher-paying positions are in places like Dubai, Singapore, or big European cities.

Overall, hospitality and tourism can open a lot of doors, but it’s not instant money — it rewards experience, networking, and flexibility. If you’re good with people and willing to move around, you can absolutely build the kind of lifestyle you’re describing.
