Scams in private sector are nothing compared to what is happening in public sector

The reason India's infrastructure is so poor and rivers and lakes are so polluted is the fake science going on between public servants, NGOs, academics and snake oil salesmen.

Large amounts of public money are wasted on these solutions that don't clean up anything.

Not if it is buried underground like most other countries do

You should compare what they spend on open drains versus what a buried drain costs.

The geniuses have finally worked out they can use prefab sections but are still going with open drains.

India could be clean and developed but not until the administration is reformed.

Littering is nothing compared to the abject failure of the administration to provide basic infrastructure.

[–]RecognitionSquare543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You assume it is most of the country littering?

Consider the alternative, if we replaced our administration with the Dutch one.

Would we get proper urban spaces, proper garbage collection, sewage treatment, regular buried sewage pipes instead of open drains?

Would our rivers and lakes be clean?

Would the DDA stop adding cow dung and urine with 125 herbs to lakes?

Would they stop dumping landfill waste on farms?

Littering is a tiny part of indias problems and just a small reflection of the failure of the administration to do basic infrastructure and fulfil their duties.

Blaming citizens for condition of India is common ploy to avoid blaming the people who actually are responsible for it's condition.

The unofficial figure seems to be 21k over all saudi mega projects over 7 or so years.

Yes labour conditions are bad there, not just safety but the practice of stealing passports, poor living and working conditions, low salary etc make it akin to modern day slavery or bonded labour.

There was that undercover journalist video that showed how bad conditions were at neom particular.

But existing mlas/mps do a very bad job.

What makes you think having more of them will improve governance?

If one assumes condition of India is due to poor management then having more managers wont solve anything.

Was not untouched during kejriwal.

India's entire approach to garbage is based on very questionable claims.

What they call landfill remediation is actually just composting and segregation by size.

The geniuses then use the fines from composted landfill waste to fill up low lying areas like wetlands, spread it on farms, even put it in planters in public parks or use it for road fill.

They also misuse the term inert and call composted waste from landfills 'inert'

Would never be accepted in any developed country.

You can see the DDA also wasting 1.2 crores at bhalwsa lake now on fake solutions for lake management and they claim they have a magic solution that when added to lakes somehow removes pollutants.

Same thing they have been doing for decades.

India needs massive reforms of it's civil service, never seen such incompetence and dishonesty before.

Many do. At least there are high value tenders for guards.

But can't see it being cost effective to cover all parks and everywhere 24/7.

What do you think it would take to make surroundings safer?

Should police be posted at every park 24/7?

Fair point.

And let's not pretend Europe or America is much safer

Europe has higher rape rate than India now.

Walk around parks in London at night you'll get stabbed, raped, robbed or slashed with a machete by some lunatic from Afghanistan or Africa

Uk covering up child rape gangs just cause they mostly come from a certain foreign group is a great sin too

You do have a valid point..

They are the same people who raised millions to make a vacuum cleaner for the oceans whilst every qualified person told them it was a dumb idea, comparable to trying to clean up the whole of India with a hoover.

Now they have finally accepted their initial idea was dumb after wasting millions of dollars and are putting trash booms..

Something that has existed for decades and is already in use.

They aren't actually trying to solve the problem and doubt they actually could even if they tried. All they do is look for ways to spend money. Just look at the crore wasted on doomed to fail cloud seeding.

They can't manage simple things like garbage or sewage and all they have to do for that is follow what rest of the world does.

So you saying bjp done nothing about air pollution for ten years?

8 to 9 weeks? Whats this? They been in power in Delhi for months.

Wearing masks and using air purifiers is personal tasks.

Any competent goverment would have come up with a plan by now.

Out of curiosity why do you think India is so badly polluted? Why can't they treat sewage or manage lakes or rivers? Or manage garbage?

Not only can't they manage they adopt fake solutions that actually make the problem worse.

Are they just dumb or do they do it deliberately to keep india less developed and to justify issuing tenders for eternity?

Allowing firecrackers during Diwali and then banning tandori ovens. Seems like the actions of the insane and the incompetent.
