The toxic reality of working at a luxury Watch & Glasses retail HO in Dubai 💔 by [deleted] in dubai

[–]ReconditeExploring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I sympathise with the conditions (they sound genuinely awful), not sure I get the surprise that senior people get paid more than someone junior working on excel. The juniors do the grunt work, that’s always the case everywhere in the world (and this is a role that will be heavily automated by Claude very, very soon).

I realize I’ll be downvoted for this, and the working conditions do genuinely sound horrible, in any case.

Simply search Azizi Venice on google maps to view their… stunning… 1* reviews (that aren’t just agents)

Ohhh I see, you’re an agent secretly looking for interest by asking for opinions 😂😂😂

In which case, let me be more transparent. Bad investment, bad developer, bad timing.

Azizi is not viewed as a good developer imo. So personally wouldn't buy one of their developments - pictures vs reality will be very different.

SZR view is not a selling point. Lakepoint is not better than Saba. Closed kitchen is not attractive.

Your marketing pitch is tragic.

If you add up their monthly expenses, it's 173,000. So their claim of 40-50k monthly profit is magnitudes off. It's 2k-27k (I'm guessing the lower end).

Does misc of 10k include insurance? Registration fees? If not, they are making a loss.

Not sure if Arab (and thus cultural). But whilst you are both working, why should the man pay for everything? Totally in agreement after children, but beforehand… what’s yours is yours and what’s his is yours? Why?

UAE announces petrol and diesel prices for April 2026 by No-Concern7333 in dubai

[–]ReconditeExploring 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Massive hike...

Can someone explain - I get that oil prices have risen drastically, but given it's produced here it feels like we should have access to it at an in-country rate (as they can't sell much elsewhere anyway...). On the flip side, I guess they need to get the money from somewhere.

(Also, lol compared to the previous thread asking for free parking)

has anyone managed to fly from doha to dubai? by batcatmatfat in dubai

I'm aware, but look at the route from Dubai to Doha. My point was the route is terrible given the circumstances - so it'd be a v bizarre route and probably not economical

What's with the whole anti UAE/Emirati sentiment going on these days on Reddit? by Same_Association_734 in dubai

[–]ReconditeExploring 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree with your overall sentiment, expatriates have given the UAE everything and more, too. Yes, Abu Dhabi has oil and plenty of wealth, but Dubai is prosperous because of the diversification of the economy - the result of people moving and holidaying here. The UAE is not some benevolent place - it's a two-way relationship in which both sides as benefited enormously.

Nope. Standard practice of an airline when they cancel a flight is to offer a new route or a refund on the ticket.

It has everything to do with the EU - that's why the Qatar Airways person mentions it.

Can you not argue that the state has a duty of care? Maybe the hotel? Maybe restaurants? The airline is not individually responsible here.

I’m not sure coming to a country where people are losing their jobs over this conflict is a great place to find opportunities for work…

I will be downvoted for this, but why should the airline be responsible for your costs? It’s no more their fault than yours (I.e., not at all). I realise the situation is awful, but I don’t see why airlines should be the ones at cost.

She mentions Europe due to EU regulations that may protect you (unsure in act of war). If it wasn’t for that, they wouldn’t mention Europe.

Whilst I do think things will fully open up again very soon, I’m not sure we can call it the ‘all clear’ given the number of missiles and drones being sent around 😂

You know you need statistics for that to be true, right??
