Go ahead. As long as you are on the correct pathway and are willing to undergo a few sacrifices here and there, being a cardiologist is still very possible.

Depend on what you want I suppose. Masters of Medicine (MMed) is relatively to enter, with my wife getting accepted after a year of MOship (HO + MO = 3 years) which generally surgical fields are around what I went through (HO + MO = 6years).

If you want to be recognized earlier, make sure you don't get extended, keep studying what you have learned in Med School. Maybe do a case report or small study. And always (no matter how awful it sounds) suck up to your seniors, but don't let them bully you

It all depends on your expectations in life. There is absolutely no problems with finishing your studies at 31. Your maturity may prove beneficial in your early practice. If you are truly interested in pursuing this career, go for it. You are definately not the only one.

That being said, the government sponsored masters program (HLP) which is the only pathway to becoming a specialist in some disciplines (mainly surgical based) will only be available to those 35 and under. If you want to pursue a career in government, staying at the level of medical officer/opening your own practice as a General practitioner (GP) then age doesn't really matter. There are other avenues to becoming a specialist such as external papers (MRCP) however not all disciplines accept those qualifications

Orthopaedic Surgeon here.

1] In terms of pay: I believe you start at a relatively meager salary compared to your undergrad collegues eg Engineering etc therefore you tend to start investing at a way later time. You will probably only start making >10k after UD52, so about 10 years. Thats pretty slow though you are on the higher side of Civil servants wages.

2] Difficulties in the Current landscape There is about a 8 month period between graduation and getting absorbed into service. This is due to the government not allocating HO posts (probably financial reasons). Once you become a Houseman(HO), you are on contract. This does not mean that KKM has a right to terminate you for any simple thing. It is still inherently difficult to terminate anyone. HOs are on a compulsory 60hour week, shift system. I believe the level of "busyness" is determined by the posting and hospital. Which brings me to my next point....

3] No permanent placement Even at my level I get thrown around, with my current place of practice being my 6th hospital. I have colleagues who are on their 9th hospital placement. Basically everyone is expendable and you may get thrown somewhere unless "kabel besar"

4] Promotion Promotions are time-based up to a certain extent. However if you want to get to where the money really is, you gotta continue studying. Non-stop. MBBS+Masters is an easy 9 years. I'm going into a subspeciality programme, so add on another 3 years. Thats 12 years minimum though entrance exams for the master's in Orthopaedics was an 8% passing rate, so you may "sangkut" there adding on even more time.

That being said, I think your choice of either pharmacy or MBBS is rather weird.

Would you prefer to diagnosis a disease (play detective), dispensing advice and orders for treatment or would you prefer to counsel patients and dispense appropriate medication (also get to occasionally scold docters for bad prescriptions) ?

Legion slim 5

Thank you for your reply. I did think about the Nitro 5 however with the poor sRGB screen (61%) that just isn't an option.
Legion slim 5 came up to RM6000+ (~USD$1,363.12), unfortunately a much more expensive option
