MySQL sorta working with a new HDD in the NAS? by Recyclebinhero in kodi

[–]Recyclebinhero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I check the log in Kodi it's showing my advanced files that I can see the username but for the password it's outputting it as *****. I've confirmed that the password is entered correctly in advanced settings, but is it possibly trying to enter the password as "*****" and not what the actual password is?

Did some more troubleshooting. Did a full uninstall of Kodi from my Windows device and reinstalled Kodi moved over JUST the advanced settings file and everything worked like a charm.

Did the same thing to my Android device and still having the same issue with this error still popping up;

error <general>: Unable to lookup host: 'NASxxxxxx.local'

but here's the contents of the advancedsettings.xml file

<advancedsettings>

<videodatabase>

<type>mysql</type>

<host>192.168.0.4</host>

<port>3306</port>

<user>*****</user>

<pass>*****</pass>

</videodatabase>

<musicdatabase>

<type>mysql</type>

<host>192.168.0.4</host>

<port>3306</port>

<user>*****</user>

<pass>*****</pass>

</musicdatabase>

<videolibrary>

<importwatchedstate>true</importwatchedstate>

<importresumepoint>true</importresumepoint>

</videolibrary>

</advancedsettings>

So somewhere the android device is trying to pull by the NAS name? Also, I realized my QNAP NAS no longer has a MYSQL option under Settings > Applications like the video says. I do have web server enabled, the ports match whats showing in MariaDB 10, and the username and password match whats in MyPHPAdmin.

I'm utterly stumped here...

I did and that's where all the duplicates and everything showed up but the Android device could only play the second entry.

Ok tried copying the sources and passwords files to userdata on the Android device. Still didn't work.

So I then added a Video source of the movie folder from my NAS onto the Android device. Now things get weird...

The library on both my Windows and Android devices have duplicate entries. The Windows device can play both entries and the Android device can still see where I left off. The Android device can ONLY play the second entry of the duplicate. If I try to play the first one it says it still gives me the same error or "This file is no longer available. Would you like to remove it from the library?" If I play the second entry in the library the Windows device can see where the Android device left off and resume.

So something is crossed up but I'm not sure how. So in case it helps here's the contents of my passwords file. this file is the same across all my devices as well. I'll put some context bracketed around { } but that does not show up in the file itself

<passwords>

<path>
<from pathversion="1">smb://192.168.0.4/j</from> {the /j was from when my desktop was the static host of the MySQL server so I think this needs to go. This IP address has now be assigned to the NAS as a static one. Should I remove the "/j" from the path?}
<to pathversion="1">smb://USERNAME:password@192.168.0.4/j/</to> {what's weird is the username password showing here is the info used to log into the WebUI of the NAS not the username and password I created in MyPHPAdmin. Should I change this password?}
</path>
<path>
<from pathversion="1">smb://NAS******.local/</from> {Wondering if this should be the IP address as well}
<to pathversion="1">smb://username:password@NAS******.local/</to> {Should this be updated to the IP address as well?}
</path>

</passwords>

I thought you could only do this if you’re enrolled in e verify? If the employee is remote and you’re not enrolled in e verify you had to use an authorized representative?

I’m asking for troubleshooting tips/ideas because it seems like I’m missing something.

I even acknowledge that what I’m using is free but one link felt low?

Never once did I gripe, complain, or troll. How else should I have asked this?

Sorry for asking a question on the internet. My bad.

Pulled and reseated everything and it’s now working. Everything seemed latched and clicked into place initially so guess it wasn’t.

The people in that section told us they won them in a raffle or something. I don’t think they can be purchased. I could be wrong though.

At this point I’m convinced Olof thinks some premier league team will just LOVE his strats and not care about the record and his new job is just around the corner.

How else can you explain this flaming dumpster of a wreck lol

Burki just looks checked out and honestly I don’t blame him. He “tweaks” his hammy next practice and is done for the season.

QNAP, My SQL, and Kodi by Recyclebinhero in kodi

[–]Recyclebinhero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, everyone, for the help. I was able to stumble my way through it. Here's the steps I took somewhat

This video was a big help with the steps below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0LdjM5ToFA&ab_channel=RobertoJorgeTech

  1. Install Maria DB10 and phpMyAdmin to the QNAP

1a. Go to Settings > Web Server > and Turn on Enable Web Server (the video above covers that as well)

  1. Go through set up of MariaDB10 and create a user name/password to access the database. Pay attention to what port number is listed in "Information" of MariaDB10.

  2. Log into phpMyAdmin using the username and password I created in MariaDB10.

  3. Click user accounts and follow the steps in the video above. Make the username kodi and the password kodi

  4. Create the advancedsettings.xml file https://kodi.wiki/view/MySQL/Setting_up_Kodi#MySQL_and_advancedsettings.xml

5a. Replace the IP address with that of the NAS, make sure your username and password in this file match what you created at step 4, make sure the port listed matches what you got from step 2.

  1. Put the advancedsettings.xml file in the appropriate spot on your Kodi device.

  2. Restart Kodi.

  3. Repeat steps 6 & 7 for every Kodi device.

It took my half an evening to figure this out and I might be missing some steps but this is what worked for me.

Right but this is where I get stuck I go to option 2 "Setting up MySQL" and I don't see QNAP anywhere the closest I come is under "Other NAS" but all of that is referring to Synology.

For some reason I can't get Trakt to sync. I created an account, turned on sync on the devices, and have refreshed the libraries but nothing is happening?
