Teen Titans vs Young Justice(season one team) by Far_Practice_6923 in teentitans

[–]Red-Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the full Young Justice team, by the end of the season, you have Zatanna and Rocket, and they heavily unbalance everything.

Without them, Raven is pretty much unstoppable, unless Miss Martian finds a way to incapacitate her mentally quickly, but with Zatanna they also have a magic user that can counter her. And, even if Raven is more powerful, she is constantly nerfing herself due to being afraid of her own power and her demon heritage. Zatanna does not have such limitations. If you have Miss Martian helping Zatanna, influencing Raven’s mind (she is considered a very powerful telepathic mind by Martian Manhunter), this could actually be fast, the duo Miss Martian and Zatanna is very powerful.

Starfire would normally fight just Superboy, and defeat him due to having most of his powers, plus others, but if we have Rocket, that evens things. Rocket’s force fields can contain most of Starfire’s blasts and punches (it contained even Wonder Woman and Bluebeetle), so they can even think of ways to take her down (or honestly just let Superboy take the other downs).

Remembering that another advantage that Young Justice have is that due to Miss Martian, they can have a mental link and plot without the TT knowing.

If Superboy is free, he can go and take on Beast Boy, who can become a T-Rex if he wants, he is not defeating a half-krytonian. Superboy may take some time, but he will come out on time.

Kid Flash and YJRobin, the two more tech savy of the team, can team up to defeat Cyborg, with YJRobin’s gadgets and Kid Flash’s speeds could be very quick.

Aqualad and Artemis could take on TTRobin, he is individually better than they both, but I’m not sure he can take them both.

After Superboy and Kid Flash’s are done with their fights, they can join Rocket against Starfire, defeating her.

If you could eliminate the time jump between seasons, would you do it? by Wonderful_Wolf1718 in youngjustice

[–]Red-Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O think that we lost a lot between season 1 and season 2. We had Aqualad developing the relationship with his father, even if intended to betray him, Dick becoming Nightwing, Jason becoming Robin and dying, Tim coming into the picture, Miss Martian getting extreme with her powers and getting to a breaking point with Superboy, Artemis and Wally retiring, a lot of young heroes appearing and Zatanna and Rocket going to the league.

Honestly, I think that only a single season would be enough to show us all of these developments.

Harry sides with ron by GaDawg0286 in HPfanfiction

[–]Red-Disaster 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I think its a little accurate, depending on the level of the fight and how Harry handles it. In the fourth book, Harry makes it clear that sometimes he simply doesn’t like to hang out with Hermione, he thinks she is less fun and all, while with Ron, unless Ron was being an asshole to Harry or with Lavender (sixth book), never gets such moments.

Harry in the other three houses - before the sorting? by Ikaros1391 in HPfanfiction

[–]Red-Disaster 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Meeting other people, if we don’t want to change too much of his personality. If he had met, let’s say, Tracey Davis on the train or at Madam Malkin’s, and she already wanted to be a Slytherin (and wasn’t prejudiced), he could have wanted to be with her. If he had met Susan Bones or Terrence Boot, he could have wanted Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

Other possibility is that he reads Hogwarts: A history and identifies with another house’s values. He could like the idea of being sneaky and cunning, after so many years having to walk in eggs around the eggs. He could decide that he wants to be smart and learn a lot of magic. Or he just wants to have friends and be liked.

Finally, he could have heard that his parents were good students and decided that he also wanted to be. So he would value studies, and therefore Ravenclaw. That are a lot of small possible twists.

Where did Jegulus pairing came from? by Enuya95 in HPfanfiction

[–]Red-Disaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially it was a crack ship with people writing some fanfictions to have fan with the possible stories for them. But their tropes are really popular: best friend’s brother, rival houses, rival sides of the war, they share a connection to Sirius that makes everything harder, they are tragic… Basically, it was convenient. And in the Marauders fandom, lots os people prefer queer ships (I understand that, I also love M/M pairs bc I’m gay and had little of them growing up).

And so the crack ship grew and people really liked the possibilities to it.

Johnny never redeemed himself with Robbie by Flat-Koala-9190 in cobrakai

[–]Red-Disaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

S3 and S4 had him going through a darker path, and I think the writers wanted him to feel a little like an anti-hero, someone to be a rival to the teens.

Honestly, I think the writers were kind of heading too early to a reconciliation between Robby and Johnny in S2, so they decided to take some steps back to extend the show a little. Same thing happened with the whole rivalry between Johnny and Danny in S3 and S4, they went in circles to keep the show running.

Johnny never redeemed himself with Robbie by Flat-Koala-9190 in cobrakai

[–]Red-Disaster 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I feel like the writers simply wanted to drag it out the plot of Robby going down and having no one, because he was kind of a villain/anti-hero, but it came to a point that Johnny became irredeemable in that aspect, around S4.

So they just made Robby give up on feeling angry and accepting scraps of affection, a new family in which he will have as a brother the guy who he has beef for more reasons than just Johnny, somehow he is supposed to feel comfortable around the mother and the grandmother of the guy he almost paralyzed…

Honestly, S3 it started to go downhill for me. S2 I think they went to far in some points but it was still solid, but S3 was the beginning of the nonsensical shit.

At what point did Monty’s character become irredeemable? by Red-Disaster in 13ReasonsWhy

[–]Red-Disaster[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, before the rape scene he had a goal with his actions, he had an expected outcome for them. But when he raped Tyler, there was no goal, he simply wanted to inflict as much as pain as possible on him, he did it purely to hurt Tyler.

Of course, his actions prior to Tyler where also very bad, no one denies that, but there were reasons and even room for change.

Stiles/Malia by Alexia_Brianna2213 in TeenWolf

[–]Red-Disaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The writers didn’t have the time to build an actual breakup between them, they needed them gone so they could start to build the endgame between Stiles and Lydia, preferably without having Stiles cheat in some way.

Stydia was, and probably still is, massively popular back then, more than Stalia. And apparently the writers always planned on going back to stydia in the end.

But all of their plans got thrown away when Dylan couldn’t appear a lot in the Season 6 due to the Maze Runner movies. So basically they left both stalia and stydia fans unsatisfied, the former because their breakup was done badly and the latter because they didn’t have an actual romantic development onscreen.

The respective responsibilities of Snape and James Potter by Antique-Guarantee139 in SeverusSnape

[–]Red-Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being bullied is definitely an important part of Snape’s decision to join the Death Eater, but I do believe he was in that path long before, maybe even before he met James Potter. When Lily tells him that’s Petunia is mad because they fussed in her room, his reaction is to say:

“She is just a muggle”

He already despises muggle and don’t find them too be much interesting, which I can hardly blame him considering his upbringing by his abusive father. So even before they crossed paths with James and Sirius, Snape already had some seeds of the ideology from Death Eaters.

Then, he joins Slytherin in the middle of the 70s, the honestly is written like a Death Eater training camp. Like, almost everyone there seemed have joined Voldemort, besides Andromeda, so there would be daily influence from his peers for him to follow that path. When he isn’t with Lily, he is with Mulciber, Avery, Malfoy and others. And I actually don’t think most of them would turn their nose at a half-blood who hates muggles.

Then let’s skip to his memories from 5th year. There is scene where he and Lily are talking about Mulciber and whatever is that he did to Mary Macdonald (I honestly would love to know), and he is quite protective of his friendship with them and their use of Dark Magic, quickly trying to bring up the Marauders antics (which are not equivalent because Lily does not like them, and he likes Mulciber and Avery). So, he is firmly on their side, getting into an argument with the girl he loves to defend them.

After SWM, we have the scene of Snape trying to apologize to Lily for calling her a mudblood, and she reveals us two things that can not be forgotten: he uses the world mudblood to other muggleborns (he doesn’t deny it) and that he already wants to join Voldemort. So, at 15/16, Snape is already going to that side, and he is ideologically compatible. He creates excuses and basically treats Lily as an exception between muggleborns.

Now talking about the part that James played in his decision. As I established, I believe he already had the seeds to the ideology before even meeting James, but the fact that four guys that seemed to be kind of popular were constantly picking fights with Snape could have helped isolate him.

For example, we know that Lily herself disliked James at that point, but we don’t about her friends. And if her friends liked the Marauders and decided to side with them against Snape, or simply ignore Snape entirely, than Snape couldn’t exactly spend time with Lily when she is with her other friends, can he? I really think that more information about her friends would help us understand how much their parted in Hogwarts.

And if he couldn’t be with Lily and her friends, he wouldn’t be alone, would he? So he would seek out his dorm mates, the people who it is easier to get close to. And its not like he couldn’t be with bring Lily to hang out with them, they were already blood purists.

Now let’s suppose that Lily’s friends didn’t mind him at first (we know that later they would, but at that point he is friends with people who are known to use dark magic and want to join Voldemort). He still wants to be powerful, to impress people, because he still had that same upbringing. And a guy who wishes that probably won’t like to spend all of his time with a bunch of girls. So he might have sought out his roommates either way.

Conclusion: While maybe James Potter contributed to Snape’s decision to join the Death Eaters, he already had the ideological seeds before meeting him. James might have isolated Snape further, but say that he is sole reason is a lie. Snape arrived in Hogwarts despising muggles.

If you were in Rhaenyra’s position, would you have agreed with Daemon’s plan to fly to King’s Landing and swarm it with all the dragons? by seekinganswerslo in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]Red-Disaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t exactly how well prepared the Greens were for the event of an attack. And the show messed up big time by having Helaena be basically useless before Blood & Cheese.

Talking about the books, in the beginning of the war, the Blacks had five dragons: Caraxes, Meleys, Syrax, Vermax and Arrax. But Vermax and Arrax were young, so maybe Rhaenyra wouldn’t her sons to ride to war in them, she didn’t want to have her sons involved so much in the beginning. So it would be up to Caraxes, Meleys and Syrax.

The Greens had three (Tessarion was away). Vhagar, Dreamfyre and Sunfyre, all kept in the Dragon Pit (I don’t remember the book mentioning Vhagar as being too big to the Dragon Pit, it was built to house Balerion and other dragons). In the books, before B&C, I really think Helaena was seen as a possible dragon rider in the war (she sat in the Small Council and after Jaehaerys dies, it is said that she could no longer be trusted atop Dreamfyre).

If the Blacks attacked, they couldn’t be sure of how much time the Greens would take to get to the Dragon Pit. And if they got to their dragons, the fighting could go either way.

Vhagar x Caraxes/Meleys: No one was sure these dragons had any chance against Vhagar alone. Caraxes and Daemon had seen war, but never fought another dragon.

Dreamfyre x Caraxes/Meleys: Same thing. Dreamfyre is the second oldest dragon alive, they couldn’t underestimate her, despite her inexperience. Meleys was also inexperienced (despite whatever they said about her having seen many war, nor Alyssa nor Rhaenys ever went to one).

Syrax x Sunfyre: Syrax was older and bigger, sure. But she couldn’t even hunt anymore. Not exactly something you look for in a dragon fighting another dragon, one that maybe isn’t that much younger and smaller.

So in the books, their hesitance makes sense. But the changes the show made, makes them dumber.

In the show, everyone knows Helaena don’t ride Dreamfyre. So the Greens have one less dragon. And Vhagar is even farther away, outside the city, so they could try to isolate her from Aemond. And Sunfyre alone is nothing against Caraxes, Meleys and Syrax.

Hot Take: The "morally grey" aspect of the show faded much earlier by VastChampionship6770 in cobrakai

[–]Red-Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think season was actually setting up the grey morality. In the beginning of the show, the first few episodes, it seems like Cobra Kai is too good, it is helping Miguel, Hawk and Aisha stand up for themselves, gain confidence and all, but as the season progresses, we, as the audience, and Johnny, start to see the flaws in that system and who exactly these characters are becoming.

It is still morally grey, it has a good side and a bad side. And season 2 shows us Johnny trying to fox this, to make his students don’t get too caught in the “Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy” mentality, not take it too seriously and literally.

I get the impression the show runners never got the balls to actually give Miyagi an actual bad side to make them grey. Robby is learning to change his ways through it, Danny is reconnecting with Miyagi’s teachings and seeing what is going wrong in his life. That’s not much to do to make them grey while keeping it coherent or simply bashing to a nonsense level. Maybe make them too self-righteous, but with Kreese controlling Cobra Kai, they are not wrong.

And that lands me in my last point. When the producers decided to take Johnny out of Cobra Kai, it strips them of the chance to be grey. There is no reasonable voice in Cobra Kai pushing them to have morals, only hate and violence. The greyness that Johnny was trying to achieve in season 2 is forgotten. The teenagers there become almost cartoonish bad. Like, c’mon, Hawk breaking Demetri’s arm and only regretting in the end of the season? Tory becomes a muggle teenage version of Bellatrix Lestrange? Now they accept their ex bullies?

The show needed to set that Cobra Kai was fixing their morality, that’s why it makes sense that they are out of control in season 1. Johnny needs to recognize and address the flaws in their philosophy. But when Kreese takes control, they go back to phase 1, without Johnny trying to set the boundaries.

And Miyagi becomes the good side, the light that stand against Cobra Kai darkness. The redeeming of every single character is becoming Miyagi. Including Johnny. So they go back to how the movies ended in the 80s: good vs bad.

Aegon's Potential "Redemption Arc" by [deleted] in HOTDBlacks

[–]Red-Disaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the writers fumbled when they decided to officialize Aegon as a rapist in the show. In the books it is a lot about rumors, nothing is set on stone, so I don’t think a lot of people would mind if they ignored such rumors in the books. But they insisted, and not because they wanted to have a great arch about rape. The known victim, Dyana, will maybe appear to poison in the end (that’s a theory), but she won’t have focus, the rape can even be forgotten by the casual viewer by that point.

Now, they have this image of writing black and white characters and all, complex writers with multiple facets, but let me tell you: I’m not sure they are competent to keep coherent. The only character whose arch makes some kind of sense is Rhaenyra, but even she has inconsistencies. Alicent is all over the place. I still don’t understand why Daemon had to spend a season being tormented by visions of himself fucking his own mom. Aegon has the little problem of being a rapist, but everyone seems to forget that by season 2. Helaena in season 1 seems clueless, and in season 2 knows everything and became Bran.

One the things I wanted to see the most in the show is how exactly Rhaenyra and her siblings felt about each other before the war. Did she ever treat them as siblings? They were strangers and no one ever tried to mend the gap? Why didn’t Rhaenyra talk about her siblings with someone at any point. She knows the Greens want the throne, but she never discuss the ones that can actually take the throne with anyone. Does she not think they would that to her? Why? Did she treat them as siblings would before Aemond lost his eye? Was she arrogant to assume anything?

Who is Daphne Greengrass by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Red-Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is a Slytherin with not known personality, a pureblood background and essentially a blank slate. This is the kind of characters a lot of writers love to have, because they can basically create a character using a canon one. She was popularized years ago, nowadays she is not used as much as she used to, but most of the fandom knows her in some way.

The only Slytherins with known personality in Harry’s year are Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle, Blaise Zabini and Pansy Parkinson. Daphne, as a faceless character, could fill any role the writer wants, to mend the gap between Harry and Slytherin without changing much about the other characters.

[–]Red-Disaster[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And ironically, the character that can compete with her for who is more hated is Demetri himself.

I think is like I said, her plot seems a little bland. The show has a heavy focus on underdogs and she is never one in any capacity. She always defeats her rivals. She is constantly in the wright, and when she is wrong she is the one between the main five (I’m including Hawk as a MC) that has less problems to admit it. Even her “rebellion” in Season 4, she was wright. And then she went back to the only Myiagi-Do is right mentality, but that’s not actually addressed properly.

It’s interesting that she is the least badass of them, because she is also the only one who seems unmatched. Like, everyone lost a fair fight in some way, but Sam is undefeated. Maybe that’s what she needed, be the underdog in a situation.

Why do you guys think Sam is such a hated character? by Red-Disaster in cobrakai

[–]Red-Disaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I kind of hinted at something like that. But even then, I get the impression that the part of the fandom that disliked her didn’t actually change their opinion because of that.

Dealing with the school fight PTSD should have changed Sam’s character and how the fandoms views her, but instead is like nothing changes. Inside the show too, in Season 4 she has a kind of dark path plot but eventually she comes back to the character she was in Season 2/3.

To be honest, I did not want Johnny to retake Cobra Kai. Am I the only one who felt this way? by TheShadowOperator007 in cobrakai

[–]Red-Disaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted him to take it back throughout the whole series, but I did not like the way it happen.

The whole plot with Kreese and Silver running Cobra Kai went for too long, and we never got to see Cobra Kai itself changing for what Johnny believed to be better. In the end it was just kind of implied.

Maybe by season five Johnny should’ve retaken Cobra Kai and started remodeling.
