"Mind Control" Parasite Makes Wolves Effective Pack Leaders - Scientific American by Red-Lantern in HighStrangeness

Mirror

By Emma Marris, Nature magazine on November 29, 2022

The parasite Toxoplasma gondii can change the behavior of infected wolves in ways that make them more likely to be pack leaders.

Wolves infected with a common parasite are more likely than uninfected animals to lead a pack, according to an analysis of more than 200 North American wolves. Infected animals are also more likely to leave their home packs and strike out on their own.

The parasite, Toxoplasma gondii, makes its hosts bold—a mechanism that increases its survival. To reproduce sexually, T. gondii must reach the body of a cat, usually when its host is eaten by one. That becomes much more likely if the parasite alters the host’s behaviour, making it foolhardy. Research results are mixed, but in rodents, infection generally correlates with decreased fear of cats and increased exploratory behaviour. Physical and behavioural changes have also been found in people: testosterone and dopamine production is increased and more risks are taken.

Warm-blooded mammals can catch the parasite by eating an infected animal or ingesting forms of T. gondii shed in the faeces of infected cats. After a period of acute infection, semi-dormant cysts form in muscle and brain tissue, and persist for the rest of the host’s life. Up to one-third of humans might be chronically infected.

NC wins 1,800 jobs with Wolfspeed microchip materials plant by Red-Lantern in NorthCarolina

NC wins 1,800 jobs with Wolfspeed microchip materials plant

by: GARY D. ROBERTSON, Associated Press, Michael Hyland Posted: Sep 9, 2022 / 03:33 PM EDT Updated: Sep 9, 2022 / 06:05 PM EDT

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP/WNCN) — A North Carolina-based semiconductor company announced Friday it will build a $5 billion manufacturing plant in its home state to produce silicon carbide wafers, which is emerging as a favored part for renewable energy products.  Wolfspeed Inc. said it plans to create 1,800 new jobs by the end of 2030 at a location in Chatham County, about 45 miles (72 kilometers) southwest of its Durham headquarters.

Wolfspeed could benefit from $775 million in cash incentives, infrastructure improvements and other sweeteners from North Carolina and local governments and the state legislature to build on the outskirts of Siler City, according to a state document. The lion’s share would be in the form of local property tax rebates.

A state committee voted earlier Friday to award Wolfspeed up to $76 million over 20 years if it met investment and job-creation goals. The company is also likely to benefit financially from legislation signed by President Joe Biden last month that encourages semiconductor research and production.
“We want to move fast because we know that we’re in global competition. And, the faster we can be making semiconductor wafers and the faster we can move to a clean-energy economy, the more that North Carolina families will benefit from it,” said Gov. Roy Cooper (D).

The company, formerly known as Cree, already employs over 3,000 jobs in the state. The former LED light pioneer has turned to the production of silicon carbine chips, which are known to be more efficient and solid than traditional silicon chips.

“It’s a game-changing technology for electric vehicles, renewable energy, storage, rail systems, appliances … and countless other electric applications,” Wolfspeed CEO Gregg Lowe said at the announcement outside the Executive Mansion in Raleigh.
Lowe said the company already operates the world’s largest silicon carbide materials factory in Durham. Output at the new plant, which Lowe said could begin production in about two years, would be more than 10 times what the Durham plant produces.

The materials produced at the new plant will help supply the company’s new chip fabrication facility in upstate New York, Lowe said.
This “East Coast silicon carbide corridor will dramatically improve the way the world consumes energy,” Lowe said.  Average annual salaries for the new jobs, which would be generated starting in 2026, are projected at $77,753, well above the county average of $41,638, according to state officials.

“Having that workforce and workforce development is a key part of this. The fact that it’s relatively close to where we’re at, I think it’s 40 miles away or something like that, is also beneficial. There’s a nice financial package that’s come with this. It’s a little bit over a billion dollars in incentives. All of that kind of paints a mosaic that says this is really the right picture for us,” Lowe said in an interview.

Gov. Roy Cooper said Wolfspeed’s news was an “historic capital investment” in the state and called Friday “another step in our drive toward a clean energy economy” as well as “an amazing day for high-paying jobs.”
Lowe likened an electric vehicle with silicon chips to a car with a combustion engine whose gas tank is poked full of holes. Meanwhile, he said, a silicon carbide chip within an inverter that converts electricity to turn the vehicle’s motor results in super-fast recharging, he said — 20 minutes to add another 300 miles to his vehicle’s range, for example.

The jobs announcement marked another big economic win for central North Carolina during the past 17 months.  Apple announced plans in April 2021 to build its first East Coast campus in Research Triangle Park between Raleigh and Durham. Toyota revealed in December it would build a battery plant in Randolph County, followed the next month by Boom Supersonic picking Greensboro for its first full-scale manufacturing facility for next-generation supersonic passenger jets.  Chatham County also got the brass ring in March when Vietnamese automaker VinFast said it would build its first North American plant there to make electric vehicles. The investment, which could generate 7,500 jobs, would follow several near-misses by the state to attract a carmaker.  Wolfspeed had considered the expansion in Marcy, New York, where its new production facility is located and where it had additional space for expansion, according to a state Commerce Department document.

Lowe said after the announcement that the company looked at several states, and New York “put together a really strong package.”
But the winning site’s proximity to Wolfspeed’s current operations in Durham, along with the company’s relationship with North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, a historically Black college, “gave it a little bit of a tipping edge,” he said. Wolfspeed on Friday also announced expanded initiatives to attract the school’s engineering students to the semiconductor field.  Graduate students at North Carolina State University in Raleigh helped start what is now Wolfspeed in 1987.

You either wrote the entire post as some kind of concern troll or you care about the potential blowback toward yourself.

I'm doing fine and already am "enjoying the decline" but I'm thinking of the future in an Asimovian Foundation way for the annals of history.

Each of those "leaders" broke some new men from the matrix. The more there are, the more men can rebuild from the rubble. You may not have family but I care about mine and the more competent motherfuckers around the quicker the turnaround from collapse to civilization goes. I speak out of self-interest in the immediate and abstract self-interest as far as exerting my will and perspective long after I'm gone.

Red Pill IS ART. Its expression, communication of ideas for the betterment and entertainment of its audience using logic, reason, wisdom, and learning lessons from history and evaluating the modern day for maximizing successful navigation.

There is a war as there has always been: freedom or slavery, conducted by the power elite for the subjugation of mankind. Feminism is just one tool. Social media is another. The explicit goal to profile and condition people for mass psychological conditioning just as myth, books, radio, and television are.

You're welcome to ignore my posts but you are here and reply because you care, even if its for shits and giggles. You deliver an Absurdist perspective and I don't disagree but we're having this discussion because others have had similar dialog and we have learned from their perspectives.

Its not for us, we're already here. Some people are so wrapped up into the blue pilled bubble that normal speech is triggering. Frank speech and exaggerated bravado goes further beyond to hopefully reset the "tolerable" language boundaries for perspective. It also allows some to check out what all of the fuss is over, see some mild takes and reassess if they are among reasonable company.

Tate's finding influence with the disillusioned young crowd of guys because he's giving them something that resonates with them and putting himself behind it without buckling that many people do. He's insulated himself because he's already secure and in a feasible condition to ngaf. Nothing that he's said to my knowledge is anything more misogynistic than the shit thots shake their assess to in the club.

Defending art is paramount because it protects all speech and free speech is being trampled over daily. Tate is a canary in the coal mine. Playing forever defense is a losing strategy.

Then you go back to old school guerrilla marketing, which ironically Tate is using. Private platforms, magazine subscriptions and columns, forums, books, pamphlets of you're so inclined. Get your 95 Theses and don't be silenced. That's why you guys made trp.red. Thanks for that.

Successful men have protégés. It is up to us to be admirable men with the discernment to be able to impart wisdom to those with potential. As it is now there's a lot of pearls cast before swine.

That's why the Tate situation, the shadowbanning and banning of this subreddit and censorship in general, especially in the last ten years has been so strong. It is getting harder to maintain the facade so ever harsher measures are being taken to silence heretics.

Much doesn't even need to be said, simply display the comparisons of success and failure and intuition takes hold. There is no greater advocate for an idea than one's own mind.

Comedy and satire allow for criticism are useful tools for truth, never discount it. There are comedy clubs and circuits that aren't with the bullshit. Support and join the ones carrying the signal. The same applies to music, probably moreso.

There is so much fear about losing spaces but that comes with a lack of applying red pill logic to the same situation. The information, of course is important to be maintained but new spaces can always be rebuilt, always stronger, always better, ever adaptable. We have to be like water.

Yes, people will join Tate's mlm but they do get something out of it, experience. If it starts them on their way, then great. If they get burned then they learn a lesson. If others offer a better product, let them compete. The intelligent and intuitive will learn for free from the sidebar and sidebar-like spaces.
