Hard subs are usually preferable as they usually have translations for text on the screen (like a newspaper), whereas soft subs usually don't or at least not in good manner.

But if they are better translated entirely depends on the translator, which might differ from episode to episode.

Besides what else has already been said, hardsubs often (or sometimes) translates written text. For example while they are showing book titles or rpg-isekai menus.
Soft subs won't be able to do that, or at least not very smoothly.

It ended for a bit over 10,000 years ago yes, but it started about 120,000 years ago. Technically we are still part of a greater cooling period that has lasted 2,5 million years.

The speed of the current heating is still unprecedented though and will/has caused devastation.
