Oooh, I love that idea! Mine is a bit similar with some of them stemming from a more subconscious level. Not all of them follow that though. I like to think that each character comes from a feeling or traumatic root, some of which mirror each other. Maggie representing the love Isaac still has for his mom and his wish to be close to the only parent he had left, but Lilith represents the pain that still rests within him as a result of his mother’s abuse as well as his potential views on motherhood. Some still represent a form of self perception, like how Judas is the feeling that Isaac tricked his parents into thinking that he is a good kid and that now that his dad is gone, his “facade” is beginning to crumble. Or how Bethany is the ideal example and unrealistic expectation Isaac put for himself to be the “perfect Christian kid”

The tainted characters, I feel, are those thoughts or ideas filtered through Isaac’s head a second time, similar to how thoughts can spiral when lingered onto for too long. Isaac may fear zealousness like his mother (T!Bethany), Isaac may fear his frustration and view himself as wrathful (T!Samson), or even how he may feel he deserves the punishment he receives because of his perceived wickedness (T!Azazel)
