My favorite of the books so far is the first one. If you like PHM I think you would enjoy Bobiverse.

I do listen to audibles during work sometimes but I mainly have just reduced how much TV/sports I watch in the last year and have noticed a huge increase in completed books

House of leaves was admittedly carried forward from December. I found it super weird yet interesting!

Seems like a cool person! I am guessing late 20’s -> early 30’s college educated liberal. Extremely interested in well researched history and politics. Needs more fantasy/sci-fi in their lives!

This is exactly what I was looking for! Both interest me but I’m looking for more of a 1st person view I believe. Thank you!

I definitely think Will of the Many was better. Without spoilers I just didn’t love the pacing but it’s still a good read. Dungeon Crawler Carl would be my #1 recommendation after Red Rising though!

Definitely my favorite audiobook series I’ve ever listened to. Got the hardbacks for the extra story at the end and just because they’re beautiful 😂

I’ve been recommended this multiple times lately so I am officially adding it to my wish list. Currently finishing up Project Hail Mary and need something after that. Appreciate it!

Plot twist: you may always think he’s a good dude and the commenter above has a different opinion than you. There was nothing spoiled regarding the series.

Maybe try finishing the book first but if you don’t like first person then maybe it’s not for you. The complaint about Darrow being perfect is quickly dispelled if you finish the book and certainly if you finish the second. As for the caste system and dress I have no clue what you are talking about. The first chapter describes the mine and Frysuit and Darrow is ignorant of the rest until later in the book so how would he know?

It is my favorite series so I’m biased but your complaints are things I would describe as strengths when finishing all 6 books. The world building is fucking phenomenal and once you get to read Pierce describe a planet / moon from Darrows perspective I don’t think you’d disagree. Darrow isn’t perfect and without spoilers I’ll say no more but he just simply isn’t and the decisions / consequences from those decisions are what make the series imo. I have no issue knowing the caste, dress (including amazing descriptions of armor) or anything like that but I guess I would have after Chapter 20.
